Issue Resolved
The Steam weekly maintenance resolved the issue faster than expected. One of the developers released an announcement in the Seamless Co-Op Discord apologising for the downtime and stated they’d be working on a fallback to ensure this doesn’t happen in the future.
Summary
The mega-popular Seamless Co-Op mod forElden Ringis currently non-functional due to a complex issue with Steam’s API, according toan admin announcement in the developer’s Discord server.
“The mod’s matchmaking system isn’t working right now. There appears to be an issue registering specific keys to user sessions, which means that the methods used to find and create new lobbies in Seamless is not functional,” the message reads.

“The issue is on Steam’s end. All versions of Seamless are affected, including the pre-rewrite (1.5.1) versions. We don’t know when it will be fixed,” the statement concludes.
A Steam Issue Has Made Seamless Co-Op Non-Functional
As the issue is on Steam’s end, the developers of Seamless Co-Op can’t actively address the problem, meaning the mod may stay down indefinitely until Steam gets around to fixing the problem.
Seamless Co-Op is a mod that allows players to experience the entirety of The Lands Between in a cooperative manner, as opposed to normal Elden Ring multiplayer which only allows players to fight bosses together. With over 6.9 million downloads, Seamless Co-Op is far and away the most popular Elden Ring mod ever created.

This certainly warps the experience of the game as encounters become quite a bit easier with multiple players, but there is something special about experiencing Elden Ring’s open-world environments with a friend.
FromSoftware president Hidetka Miyazakihas previously touched upon the Seamless Co-Op mod, saying the team doesn’t oppose the mod, even if that wasn’t their intended way of playing Elden Ring. In fact, Miyazaki revealed that a more holistic multiplayer experience may become a feature in From’s future games.

“It’s definitely not something we actively oppose or want to downplay, wanting to go through the whole game together,” Miyazaki said. “In terms of where we were with Elden Ring, it was simply a case of wanting that more loose, casual style – drop in, defeat a boss, drop out. It doesn’t put any technical restrictions on the player, it just sort of lets them complete this focus and then move on, so to speak.”
