Summary
Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtreeintroduced dozens of new enemies to the game, both big and small.Furnace Golems, Gravebirds, andJar Innardsall frequent the Land of Shadow, but there might be one enemy that’s creepier than them all — the Man-Fly.
The Man-Fly is a deranged, half-human, half-fly creature that spits poison and grabs you if you get too close. Typically, the creatures have their faces covered, adding to the creepy mystique;Elden Ringlore expertZullie the Witchhas found out what they look like without the masks, discovering a connection toDark Souls 3in the process, and it’s a truly terrifying sight to behold.

The Man-Fly Unmasked
The story of the Man-Fly is an integral new piece of Elden Ring lore.
These monstrosities were born from a disease that ripped through the presumably newly named Village of Flies. While the disease eliminated those who were too weak to handle it, the strong survived, morphing into these awful, groaning human-fly hybrids. Complete with a deformed spine, giant wings, a stinger, and a covered face, these enemies are a grotesque example of the inner workings of Hidetaka Miyazaki’s mind.

When found throughout theLand of Shadow, the Man-Fly’s face is completely out of view, making it hard to comprehend what they look like. Thankfully, Zullie the Witch on YouTube has found a way to remove their veil and show what is hiding underneath.
Although they lose some of the “fear of the unknown” with their covering removed, the Man-Flies are equally as horrific. Attached to their slender, fly-like bodies is a decaying human face, that looks like it’s just about done with life.

The Dark Souls 3 Link
Shadow of the Erdtree’s Man-Fly looks strikingly similar to the Giant Fly from Dark Souls 3’s Giant Fly, which debuted in the Ashes of Ariandel DLC.
Both creatures have multiple limbs, a thin, wispy body, and large wings protruding from their backs. The only major differences between the two are the colors, with the Man-Fly an off-white color and the Giant Fly black, and their heads.
However,Zullie the Witch shares a little more detail, saying that “although the model is obviously new, their skeleton [the Man-Fly’s] is a returning asset from Ashes of Ariandel.”
