Summary
Elden Ringis back, baby. For the past month, Elden Ring fever has gripped the gaming world once again, thanks to the release of theShadow of the Erdtree DLC.
Thenear-perfect expansion, which sees players explore the Land of Shadow, has kicked updebate after debate, the latest of which sees players discussingwhich of the game’s Demigods are the most evil. The answer, which was almost unanimous, was Rykard, Lord of Blasphemy.
“He Has Directly Caused A Great Deal Of Suffering”
The quote I used for my subheading is probably a bit of an understatement.Rykard, Lord of Blasphemy, got his nameand the popular voteby “murdering people,” having an “evil lava volcano lair,” “eating people,” and using a “sword made of corpses.” He wasby far the most popular pick, “giving himself over to the God-Devouring Serpent while dragging down everyone around him and rendering the battlegrounds between the forces of Volcano Manor and Leyndell so hellish that it drove the survivors mad.”
Almost every commenter in the Reddit thread ranked Rykard right at the top, however, the battle for second place was slightly more heated.
Godrick the Graftedwas an exceptionally popular pick for second place. Called “cruel and cowardly” with “no show of remorse,” the early-game Demigod has his fair share of haters. His cowardly actions, which “didn’t even amount to anything,” were called “pathetic” byone commenter, a sentiment echoed by many more. Arguably,his most evil traitcomes in the form of hacking “people to bits and stitching them together into horrifying beasts, taking the prize limbs for himself.”
Newly introduced Demigod, and another lover of snakes, Messmer caused some serious debate among fans. Some point to the fact that he “committed genocide,” albeit on “Marika’s orders,” as a reason that he should be high up on this list, while others argue that he’s “morally gray” and is the “most human of the Demigods” who was a man that “deeply cared for all of his men.”
Mohg was another popular choice for second-most-evil. The Demigod wasaccused of starting"a cult that kills others and makes sacrifices to reach some sort of outer god that wants blood." However, with Shadow of the Erdtree shedding more light on the character’s motivations, one poster wasquick to point outthat should the cult “be Miquella’s doing,” he could be slightly more forgiven.
The final two in the “most evil” mix were Miquella and Ranni. Miquella famously brainwashed dozens of people into believing he was “kindly” to achieve “his vision of a perfect world,” and Ranni, who is often considered a “Best Girl,” was accused of similar. However, rather than brainwashing people, she caused the shattering in pursuit of ending the Demigod’s rule.
