Summary
Elden Ringfans have been debating which ofShadow of the Erdtree’sboss fights deserve to be up there with the best in the series, which has also led to conversations surrounding some of the worst.
It’s been over a week since the release of Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree, and while some arestill getting beaten black and blue by the likes of Rellana and the Blackgoal Knight, plenty of others have also seen pretty much all the bosses that the DLC has to offer. Shadow of the Erdtree has a bunch of incredibly creative and challenging boss fights, and fans are now deciding which ones deserve to be raised up with the best from FromSoftware’s other titles.
We’ll be revealing some of Shadow of the Erdtree’s late game bosses in this article, so this is your warning to tap out if you’re not that far in.
It was Reddit user AlenIronside who put the question to the rest of the FromSoftware subreddit, with the consensus being that Messmer, Bayle the Dread, and Midra, Lord of Frenzied Flame are the top three fights in the game. you’re able to’t really argue with those three either, as while they may not be the hardest the DLC has to throw at players, they’re all incredibly cinematic and reading their attacks is an absolute joy.
Elden Ring Fans Are Debating Shadow Of The Erdtree’s Best And Worst Bosses
Rellana is another big shout from quite a lot of people in the thread, probably the boss that is considered the first big mandatory wall of challenge players have to get past. Not only is she fun to quickly dodge and counterattack, but others seem to like her for how much she reminds them of other bosses like Sir Allone and Fume Knight from Dark Souls 2. She’s also got some pretty cool lore implications, what with being Rennala’s sister, butsome wish she had a cutscene or more of a build up.
Scadutree Avatar is another popular choice, which user Sk0ry enjoys for the arena in which you fight it and the ability to really master dodging all of its attacks. Dancing Lion is another that gets a big shout-out, though some have mentioned camera issues causing a lot of frustration, while my personal favorite boss - Putrescent Knight - also gets a mention by user OkAccountant7442. Clearly a person with magnificent taste.
Of course, the topic of the worst boss fight also naturally comes up, and there are quite a lot of people that don’t like the Commander Gaius fight. It doesn’t help that you’re encouraged to fight on horseback, but his charge also seems to be a little broken and can hit you several times if you roll funny. Romina is another shout for worst boss due to how easy she can be, but she gets a pass from some due to aesthetics. You can’t be perfect all the time.
