Summary

Bandai Namcoshared a first look at howDragon Ball: Sparking Zero’s customisation works, but all fans can talk about is how similar the menu looks to the infamousFortnitelocker.

Even thoughDragon Ball: Sparking Zero is only a few months away from releasing, there’s still a lot that we don’t know about the game. Sure,we’ve seen a bunch of the characters in actionand have avague idea of how the story mode and Custom Battles work, but we’ve only seen little glimpses here and there.

It seems that Bandai Namco and Spike Chunsoft are about to change all of that, though. Yesterday,a beginner’s guide was published that gave fans their best look yetat how Sparking Zero’s gameplay works (including the return of the original trilogy’s infamous QTEs), as well as showing us some customisation options for the first time.

Sparking Zero’s Customisation Looks Very Similar To Fortnite’s Locker

In the beginner’s guide to Sparking Zero, a single image was shared of the new customisation options, which shows Goku’s Super variant with a few different skins that can be selected alongside a host of equippable accessories. You’d think that this (and the confirmation of Capsules returning) would be taken well by fans, but the similarities to Fortnite are all anyone can talk about.

As you can see from the image above, the light blue background and generic menus in Sparking Zero look very familiar to Fortnite’s locker, especially if you happen to have the infamously off Goku skin equipped. Fans instantly pointed this out after the beginner’s guide was released, although they don’t seem too upset about it.

Although I understand that a clear background like this makes loading faster and customisation simpler, I do miss the sauce that Budokai Tenkaichi’s menus had. Here’s hoping we get a little control over how they look.

For example,Twitter user SLOplays shared an image of the menu next to Sparking Zero and said, “Sparking Zero really became Fortnite lmao”,something that the comments and similar posts agree with. There are already a ton of memes and comparisons to Fortnite, although I’m surprised at how calmly most fans are taking it.

Instead of getting worked up about the similarity, most fans seem to understand that it’s being done for simplicity’s sake and to help the game run better. Perhaps myfavourite comment comes from Twitter user raiderking__, who said, “I’m fine with it because the rest of the game is filled with soul”.

Still, even if that’s true, it’s hard to deny that Sparking Zero’s menus seem to have taken a lot of notes from Fortnite. Here’s hoping that some of the other menus have a little bit more personality to them.
