Summary
Dragon Agefans are starving. We have been for almost ten years now, as the last game,Dragon Age: Inquisition, launched in 2014. But at long last, there is hope on the horizon.
Last month, we finally got our first look at the next game in the series,Dragon Age: The Veilguard. First, we hadthe character reveal trailer, which introduced us to our new protagonist, Rook, and their companions. Then, there was the gameplay reveal, which doubled as Varric and Solas reunion. However, we still don’t have a release date.
Now, after years of waiting, Dragon Age fans have had enough, and have started writing the sequel themselves. Yep, months before release, fanfiction website AO3 is already full of stories about Dragon Age: The Veilguard’s characters - despite the fact that we know next to nothing about them.
Dragon Age Fans Are Just Writing The Veilguard Themselves At This Point
The Dragon Age: The Veilguardtagon AO3 is truly a sight to behold. The sheer quantity of literary works written about a game that isn’t even out yet is impressive enough, but it also just exposes how down bad fans are for characters they’ve barely been introduced to yet.
In fact, there are already some veryveryraunchy pieces written about some of the companions. The most popular so far seems to be Emmrich - the old man who’s into necromancy. There are also a few that detail hookups between Rook and Lucanis, an Antivan Crow. This fanbase wants to live dangerously.

There are also alotof fanfics that continue the Inquisitor’s story into Dragon Age: The Veilguard, something thatwe know we will actually see in the game. We’ll even get to recreate our Inquisitor at the start of the game, suggesting they’re going to appear just like Hawke did in Dragon Age: Inquisition.
All in all, this is a phenomenal effort from fans. Of course, much will be overwritten when The Veilguard drops and we actually know what’s going on with these new characters, but there’s no denying the passion that the fanbase has for this series. Hopefully,BioWarewill drop the release date sooner rather than later - we’re getting pretty desperate at this point.

Right now, all we know is that Dragon Age: The Veilguard will be with us this autumn. It was previously known as Dragon Age: Dreadwolf, in case you’re getting confused, withthe name change coming in just before the trailer dropped.
