In the replies, users share what kind of issues they’ve encountered on PC, and it’s pretty dire.

“I have Origins on Steam and even with 3rd party patches and keeping textures low I’ve had a few crashes,” says Gabbs1715. “Recently had to stop playing Awakening because I couldn’t get the game to stop crashing and gave up.”

Reddit user Magmas, on the other hand, didn’t even have a choice in the matter: “My first Origins playthrough ended when I got to Denerim and encountered a memory leak which causes the entire game file to become corrupted and unplayable. Not just that save, not just that character, the entire game.”

Dragon Age: Origins still has great reviews on Steam, but many recent negative ratings mention these performance issues. As a result, it’s dipped from a score of “Very Positive” to “Mostly Positive”.

Given that Dragon Age: Origins launched in 2009 - and has since received two sequels - it’s not something that EA and BioWare keep updated. However, with The Veilguard reigniting interest in older Dragon Age games, it remains to be seen if Origins fixed for new players. In the meantime, you may want to stick to console, if you may.
