Summary

QuakeCon always brings some excitingDoomannouncements, butBethesdahas really pushed the boat out this year. The studio has revealed a laundry list of ways it wants to celebrate the long-running series, likely because the launch ofDoom: The Dark Agesis right around the corner. Until then, whether you need to catch up on the series so far, want to replay it ahead of The Dark Ages' release, or you’re a big fan who wants to own a piece of Doom history, there’s the new Doom Anthology.

Announced during QuakeCon, the Doom Anthology includes six games from throughout Doom’s history, starting with the very first game released in 1993 up toDoom Eternal, the most recent Doom game released a little more than six years ago. A fantastic way to play through the core games in the series, but the games included aren’t necessarily the biggest selling point of Bethesda’s latest anthology.

It’s what you get with those six games that makes the Doom Anthology really special. A replica BFG, the iconic weapon you can find in various games but is most famous for its appearances in Doom. If I tell you the B stands for Big and the G for Gun, you should be able to figure out what the F stands for without me needing to type it and risk getting in trouble. Not quite as big as it is in the games, the replica that comes with the Anthology is five inches long. It has LED lights and includes a stand so it can be properly displayed.

WHERE TO PLAY

The Doom Anthology includes six games from throughout the series' history - Doom, Doom 2, Doom 3, Doom 64, Doom (2016), and Doom Eternal. The games come in a Steelbook and include a replica of the BFG. That’s the weapon, not the Big Friendly Giant.

Rounding out the physical version of the collection is a Steelbook in which you can keep your six games safe and proudly display them alongside your BFG. The Doom Anthology is available now onPlayStation,Xbox,Nintendo Switch, andPCthrough the Bethesda Gear Store at the link in the box above. That’s six games in a Steelbook with a collectible you can’t get anywhere else for $79.99. Pretty good going when you consider Doom Eternal and Doom (2016) alone will cost $60 when bought separately.
