Deadlock,Valve’s shooter that it hasn’t officially announced yet, just reached a new player peak onSteam. This weekend, 41,569 users were playing at once at its peak, surpassing plenty of other games on the platform.
Right now, Deadlock is ranked at 53 on theSteam charts, with 31,294 players online at the time of writing. This is enough to just put it aboveHelldivers 2’s player count, as well as other huge games likeLeft 4 Dead 2,No Man’s Sky, andRocket League.
Deadlock Has More Players Than Helldivers 2 On Steam Right Now
While the numbers are a little lower this Sunday, it was spotted that Deadlock’s player count was enough to bump it higher thanOverwatch 2’s yesterday. And while both Overwatch and Helldivers 2 are available on other platforms, it’s still impressive to see a game that Valve hasn’t publicly acknowledged surpasses them both on Steam.
Of course, being an unannounced game, you can’t just open Steam and download Deadlock from a store page. Right now, the elusive shooter is only available to play if you’ve received an invite. Thankfully, anyone who has gotten into the game is able to recommend another user for an invite, so you’ll just have to wait until a friend of yours has managed to secure a place. Valve is also inviting Steam users to join itself, so it might just be a case of waiting and seeing if you’re lucky enough to be included in the next wave of players.
Deadlock does ask you to not share any details about the game when you boot it up, but of course, with this many players accessing it right now, information is getting out.
As for its gameplay, Deadlock is said to be a MOBA/hero shooter crossover. The closed beta has come at a good time then, asMarvel Rivalsjust enjoyed a successful beta period, so much so that many weremourning the fact that they had to return to Overwatch 2once it was over. It seems that there’s a real desire out there for another hero shooter, and judging from Deadlock’s early success, many are interested in seeing what Valve is cooking up behind the scenes.
It remains to be seen when Valve is ready to formally announce Deadlock. In the meantime, you’ll have to keep an eye out for invites.
