Summary
Dead Risingfans are sharing their biggest fears and concerns for theDeluxe Remaster, such as the licensed music being replaced and zombified survivors being cut.
It’s been a very long time since Dead Rising fans had anything to get excited about, but that allchanged last week when it revealed that the first game in the series is getting a “deluxe remaster”,which the devs have since admitted is basically a remake. Following that initial reveal,we got a gameplay showcasethat finally confirmed that the remasterwill be sticking closely to the original game.
Although the gameplay footage seemed to assuage most fan’s worries and get everyone excited to jump back into Willamette, that doesn’t mean there’snothingto be concerned about. After all, we’ve only seen a very small amount of footage currently, and Dead Rising players still have some things they’re anxious to find out the fate of.
Over on the Dead Rising subreddit, MrEnricks started a thread asking fans what “genuine concerns” they have for the remake, if they have any at all. Even though everyone seems happy with the Deluxe Remaster, that hasn’t stopped fans from sharing a few things they’re worried about in the semi-remake.
If you want to think a bit more positively, Dead Rising fans alsodiscussed the changes that they most want to see the Deluxe Remaster make. And yes, improved survivor AI is one of them.
By far the biggest concern that pops up several times in the thread has to do with Dead Rising’s licensed music, including Gone Guru, Slave, and Fly Routine. These songs, especially Gone Guru, are synonymous with the first Dead Rising and they’re something Capcom hasn’t mentioned once, which makes it seem likely they’ve had to be changed instead of renewed.
One thing that Redditor PKHacker1337 is more curious than concerned about is whether previously OP weapons like the mini chainsaw (especially when using books) and mannequin torso will be rebalanced for the Deluxe Remaster. While some fans think the weapons do need a bit of balance to them, others just want the same experience they had from the original game.
The fear that I relate most to in the thread (as shared by Kennis2016) is that Capcom might have made the time limit a bit more forgiving in the remake for new players, as it was infamously difficult in the original game. Dead Rising’s appeal is that it’s not supposed to be easy until you learn the mechanics,so I think auto saves and the ability to fast-forward timeis more than enough without more tweaks being made.
Although most of the worries are to do with gameplay features, DaAuraWolf pointed out that they’re concerned about the game’s sales figures and how that might impact the series going forward. The digital release happening first in September and then two months later in November is one reason they’re concerned, but the main point is that they just want more Dead Rising, which puts pressure on Deluxe Remaster.
