Summary
Lifeseeker doesn’t know if Gone Guru is going to be featured inDead Rising Deluxe Remaster, which makes it seem unlikely thatDead Rising’s most iconic song will be included in the remake.
Dead Rising fans haven’t had all that much to be excited about since the series' infamous fourth entryseemingly killed the series off for good, but that’s all changed sinceCapcom announced that the first game is getting a “Deluxe Remaster” later this year. As exciting as it is to see Dead Rising return, fans have had a lot of questions about how faithful the new release is going to be.
Last week,a lot of those fears were put to rest thanks to a gameplay showcasethat confirmed that the Deluxe Remasteris going to be sticking very closely to the original release’s formula. There was one big thing that the showcase didn’t confirm, though, and that’s whether the game’s iconic licensed music would be returning in the remake.
The original Dead Rising has a ton of great licensed music, but the one track that stands out the most is Lifeseeker’s Gone Guru, which plays when Frank encounters the Convicts in Leisure Park. The Convicts are one of the most well-known bosses in Dead Rising and that’s mostly because of Lifeseeker’s iconic song playing during the boss battle.
From the moment that Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster was revealed, fans have wondered if Gone Guru would returnor if it would suffer the same fate as TJ Rotolo and be replaced.Lifeseeker’s Marc Lariviere has finally answered that question over on the band’s Instagram page, although it might not be the response we were all hoping for.
In the post, Lariviere acknowledges all of the questions about Gone Guru and says that he appreciates the “curiosity and support” for the track. Sadly, he also says that he doesn’t know if it’s going to reappear, which makes it seem unlikely as Capcom would surely have to get permission to use a licensed track for the remake.
I’ve been getting a lot of questions regarding the deluxe remaster of this old dog! Will Gone Guru be in it? Appreciate your curiosity and support. Truth is I don’t know. The last time they remastered the game, Capcom didn’t tell me anything. I figure it may be the same this time. Guess we’ll have to wait and see!
Although the lack of confirmation does make it seem unlikely, Lariviere notes that Capcom didn’t ask Lifeseeker about using the song when it remastered Dead Rising in 2016, which means that it could be the same situation here. As Lariviere points out, all we can do now is “wait and see”.
Gone Guru is not only a banger, but it’s also a key part of Dead Rising’s identity, so here’s hoping that Capcom figures out how to get it featured in the game. They did get Lifeseeker to make a new song for Off The Record, after all.
