Summary

After nearly a decade, theDead Risingseries is back from the grave with the Deluxe Remaster, a confusingly named remake of the original game.Previews so far sing its praises, and it launches just next month on September 19. But what does the future of the series look like beyond this visit to the past?

In an interview withIGN, the development team revealed that “Capcom would like to continue to bring back many of its IPs,” and that they have “hopes of expanding upon the Dead Rising series in the future” by ensuring that the Deluxe Remaster performs well.

So, if you’re a fan who has been begging for eight years to see the series return, pick up the remake and your wish might finally come true.

In the same interview, we also got confirmation onwho voices Frank Westin the remake—Jas Patrick, who you may know as Partitio Yellowil fromOctopath Traveler 2, Dynamike fromBrawl Stars, and Thunder McQueen fromJoJo’s Bizarre Adventure.

Frank’s original actor, TJ Rotolo, said thathe was not contacted by Capcomfor the remake, but we still don’t know why. The team only said that they “regret that we were unable to have TJ Rotolo reprise his role” and that they “sincerely appreciate all that TJ Rotolo has done for the Dead Rising series”.

Other characters in the game were recast due to expired contracts, and new voice lines were needed as the Deluxe Remaster wanted to haveeverythingvoiced, rather than showing dialogue through text boxes. It’s understandable why survivors have new actors behind them. But Frank is still a mystery.
