Summary

We’ve known for a little while now thatFive Nights at Freddy’swas planning to announce a big collaboration in August, but questions remained over which game. Creator Scott Cawthon revealed that an announcement was scheduled to take place on August 6,which led many to believe a Fortnite collab was on the wayas the date lined up with a future update, but we now know that’s not the case.

A day ahead of schedule,Dead by Daylightdeveloper Behaviour Interactive announcedvia the game’s Twitter accountthat it will be crossing over with Five Nights at Freddy’s at some point during Summer 2025. That’s all the information that Behaviour has decided to share right now, though it’s possible we will get more news from Scott Cawthon either tomorrow or in the near future.

Of course, Dead by Daylight will have plenty of collaborations to get through before it can focus on Five Nights at Freddy’s,as we also have a Castlevania crossover to look forward to at some point in the near future. Yet again, details are pretty thin on the ground right now, but exactly what players can expect from it will be revealed tomorrow, so at least Castlevania fans won’t be waiting too long. After that, the runway is clear for FNAF.

Unfortunately, it feels unlikely that every Five Nights at Freddy’s will be playable during this crossover. Dead by Daylight will likely handpick a single character from the series to star as a killer, but I don’t envy the person that has had to pick which one. Each animatronic has its own fans, and splitting them up feels a little odd, but you’d have to assume that it would be Freddy Fazbear making the cut, since he’s the star man/bear.

However, Dead by Daylight is a bit spooky, and having a giant teddy bear walking around, no matter how murderous, doesn’t particularly fit the game’s aesthetic. There are plenty of fans in the replies to Dead by Daylight’s crossover announcement hoping for the killer to be Springtrap, which does look creepier than the game’s original quartet and would definitely fit in alongside the likes of Pyramid Head, Ghostface, and Nemesis. Then again, this is also a game in which you can be murdered by Chucky, so what do I know?
