Summary

The Casting of Frank Stoneis a Supermassive-developed narrative game set in the world ofDead by Daylight, so it’s only fitting that Behaviour’s most iconic imagery makes its way to the spin-off.

You’ll find DbD killers as dolls (the Rellik collectible),the Huntress’mask, a statue of the Hillbilly, and so many more little easter eggs. But a direct gameplay element in The Casting of Frank Stone is the repairing of generators—after all, youare a survivor trying to escape an unrelenting killer, and what’s a Dead by Daylight survivor without their generator?

Light spoilers for the narrative.

There are three instances throughout the game’s 14 chapters in which you have to find parts to repair generators via a quick time event much like in DbD. Fail these and the generator will break.

I won’t say who or when, but there are times when breaking a generator can get a character killed. You don’t hide from Frank Stone until it’s safe to try again — it’s far more linear than that — but the core idea is the same; your failure leaves you cornered and vulnerable, and you must escape by other means.

Even The QTE Is The Same

In Dead by Daylight, you hunker down by a generator until the bar fills. This leaves you vulnerable as a loud churning noise alerts the killer to your presence. But you need to power all five generators to open the exit gate, so youmust work as a teamto distract your opponent as you get these generators running.

While you’re waiting for the bar to fill, QTEs will appear on the screen. These are circles with a line that spins around the rim incredibly fast — you must press the prompt that appears on screen when the line reaches a narrow window within the circle. This speeds up the process. Generators don’t take quite as long to fix in The Casting of Frank Stone, but they feature this same quick time event as an homage to the game it spins off from.

We don’t see Frank Stone going around kicking all the generators until they bust like with the killers in DbD, but since we find them all in disrepair, I’d like to imagine that’sexactlywhat he’s doing when we’re not looking.
