Summary
CRKD is one of the leading brands when it comes to video game accessories and is the company behind one of the best third-partyNintendo Switchaccessories to date, the Nitro Deck. During Gamescom, CRKD unveiled a very different, far smaller Switch accessory - the Atom. The Atom gets its name from its tiny size as even though it’s a controller compatible with your Switch,PC, or phone, it’s so small that it can be clipped to your keychain.
Not only is the Atom small enough that it can be clipped to your keychain, CRKD has specifically designed its newest - and smallest - controller with that in mind. Gone are the days of gaming at someone’s house and having to sit out because there aren’t enough controllers to go around. From now on, if you’ve got your keys on you, you’ve got your controller on you as the Atom will be right there in your pocket.

The Atom boasts ten hours of battery life and even if you do run out of juice, it has a USB-C port to charge it up and comes with a cable. The cable can’t be attached to your keyring. I guess you could have it hanging from the Atom at all times, but that kind of defeats the purpose of the controller being so small. Despite being so tiny, CRKD has somehow squeezed all of the buttons you’ll need onto its tiny controller. It even has four shoulder buttons.
What Is This, A Controller For Ants?
The Atom is available in eight different designs, all of which are up now on CRKD’s website and will ship as soon as August 29. They all have wrist straps attached as keeping hold of them is likely pretty tricky due to their size, and they’re all compatible with the CRKD app just like all of its other accessories. I don’t know this for sure as I’ve not had the chance to get my hands on one yet, but I can’t imagine they’re all that comfortable to hold. The Atom isn’t about to be your go-to controller, though. It’s a fun novelty, and that’s reflected in its price.
CRKD Atom Controller
CRKD’s ATOM is a first-of-its-kind controller that’s so small, it has literally been designed to be clipped onto your keychain. Despite its tiny size, the ATOM has four shoulder buttons and ten hours of battery life.
If you’re looking for a controller or an accessory that will become the thing you use every single day, CRKD has you covered in other ways. Most notably via the Nitro Deck Plus. An upgrade on the OG Nitro Deck, the Plus version of the Switch accessory has moved its thumbsticks due to popular demand and doubles as a Switch dock, a feature I was very happy to see introduced. That should technically be triples as the Deck Plus is a handheld Switch accessory first, a Pro controller second, and a dock third.
