Final Fantasy 14: Dawntrail’s Role Quests will have the Warrior of Light investigating the mysterious Passage of the Unbound, a criminal organization that has stolen several priceless artifacts from villages around Tural.

The Tank Role Quest will have you tracking down a former Knight of Ishgard who has stolen an artifact with the power to put people to sleep. Below, we’ll take a look at everything you need to know about this questline, including how to complete the Duty at the end.

How To Unlock Role Quests

Role Quests for all five Roles can be unlocked after progressing through the Dawntrail Main Scenario up to the level 92 quest’The Feat of Pots'. After completing this quest, you’re able to accept’Uncouth Customers’fromBr’uk Evu in Tuliyollal (X:12.4, Y:14.5), which will unlock Role Quests.

Loazenikwe - Tuliyollal (X:12.9, Y:15.0)

The Tank Role Quest begins with ‘The Narwhal Beckons’ atXbalyav Ty’e in Tuliyollal. After accepting this quest from Loazenikwe, who briefly explains how a precious relic was stolen from her village, you will be sent in search ofTentoawa in Ishgard. Head to theForgotten Knightand talk toGibrillontfor clues.

Next, search for Tentoawa in theJeweled Crozier. you may find him at(X:6.7, Y:9.9). During the cutscene, select the dialogue option"A skilled sword would be known among the knights of the Congregation". Then, after the cutscene, head to theCongregation of the Knights Most Heavenlyand talk toFirmalbert.

After this cutscene, head northwest a short distance and speak to Tentoawa again to complete this quest.

Tentoawa - Foundation (X:12.0, Y:10.2)

Shortly after speaking to Tentoawa to start this quest, a cutscene will begin. After the cutscene, head toCamp DragonheadinCoerthas Central Highlands, then find and speak toEugennoix. Before you can follow up on the sighting of Leophyne, you’ll need to assist a caravan that has beenattacked by monsters.

Headsouth toward the Observatorium, then travelwest a short distanceand speak to Tentoawa. Next,follow the path to the southto find thewagon surrounded by monsters. Defeat allthree Ravenous Silver Wolves, then aid the House Fortemps Knight to begin a cutscene.

After this cutscene, return toFoundationand talk toFirmalbertat the entrance to the Congregation. Then, speak to Tentoawa to complete the quest.

Speaking to Tentoawa will begin this quest. After watching the cutscene, head toFalcon’s NestinCoerthas Western Highlands, then talk toRedwald. Then, travelfar to the northtoGorgagne Mills, and speak to Tentoawa.

Head inside the building, then go down to thebottom floor. Defeat bothUnbound enemies, then assist theHouse Durendaire Scout, which will start a cutscene after a bit of dialogue. Then, fight offanother group of Unbound enemies, andaid Tentoawato start another cutscene.

Firmalbert - Foundation (X:12.9, Y:11.2)

Accept this quest from Firmalbert, then watch the cutscene that follows. Then, travel to the indicated area nearFour ArmsinThe Churning Miststo search fortwo sun-drenched dandelions. You can find two at(X:18.0, Y:29.3)and(X:18.8, Y:29.8), but there are other gathering locations in the area as well.

After gathering the flowers, head to theAnswering QuarterinThe Dravanian Hinterlandsand survey the indicated area at(X:12.0, Y:22.8)to cause aGreat Putrid Morbolto appear. Slay this enemy to get avial of its saliva, thendeliver both items to LoazenikweinFoundation.

Accept this quest from Tentoawa, then speak to him again to have himaccompany you. Now, head to thethree marked locationson your map and speak to theTemple Knightsthere to gather information about Leophyne. The Knights can be found at(X:13.3, Y:11.3),(X:10.8, Y:11.9), and(X:9.9, Y:9.7), with anoptional conversation at (X:9.7, Y:10.4).

After talking to all three Temple Knights,return to the Congregationand talk toHandeloupto begin a cutscene. After the cutscene, head to Tentoawa’s usual spot and speak with him to complete this quest.

Accept this quest from Tentoawa, then travel toOk' ZunduinThe Sea of Clouds. Here, speak toSonu Vanuto begin a cutscene. Now, talk to Tentoawa to start asolo instance Duty.

The battle will begin with a wave ofUnbound enemiesappearing at the edges of the arena while Leophyne becomes untargetable. Two groups will attack the Zundu Warriors, one will target Tentoawa, and the fourth group will target you. You canbring your group of enemies to any of the other groupsto efficiently AoE them both down.

Once all the enemies are defeated, the Zundu Warriors will begin to perform the Sundrop Dance to wake the fallen Temple Knights. Now,another two groups of Unbound will spawn; you’ll need toprotect the Zundu while they dance. Tentoawa will take a group of Unbound, so yougrab the other group.

With the Unbound adds defeated, the Zundu Warriors will complete the dance before retreating from the arena. Now, Leophyne will finally take the field. She will periodically castBladestorm, dealing damage inthree large conal AoEs from herself. Step into thesafe areas between the AoEsto avoid taking damage.

Keen Tempestwill createtwo sets of circle AoEsaround the arena. Avoid these in the order they appear. Then, Leophyne will castAetheric Burst, dealing damage to you, Tentoawa, and Loazenikwe. You can usegroup mitigationlike Shake It Off, Dark Missionary, or Heart of Corundum, or justlet Loazenikwe heal your party up.

Leophyne will then useConviction, creatingtwo Tankbuster pillars. You and Tentoawa will each need tostand in one of these to absorb the blast. Wait for Tentoawa to run to his pillar, then move to the other one.

After anotherAetheric Burstor two, a short cutscene will interrupt the fight. Then, Leophyne will attempt to use the artifact on your group, but Tentoawa will protect you, falling asleep in the process. The Zundu Warriors will return to wake him, while more groups of Unbound adds spawn.Group them up to protect Tentoawa.

At the same time, Leophyne will begin repeatedly castingDaggerflightat Tentoawa.Stand between Leophyne and Tentoawa to absorb the attackwhile dealing with the Unbound enemies. Afterthree uses of Daggerflight, the Zundu Warriors will complete the dance, awakening Tentoawa, and Leophyne will return to the arena.

Now, she will castAetherial Ray, creatingtwo sets of intersecting line AoEs. Immediately after, Leophyne will castBladestormwhile targeting the party withAethershot, anAoE Marker. Spread out while avoiding the conal AoEs.

Bloody Trinityis aTankbusterthat should be mitigated usingdefensive cooldowns. Loazenikwe will promptly heal you after the attack.

After another set ofAetherial RayAoEs, Loazenikwe will be targeted with aStack Markerwhile Leophyne preparesConviction. Group up with Loazenikwe, thenimmediately head to your pillarto absorb it.

Poison Daggersis aninterruptable attackthat deals damage andinflicts poison. UseInterjectto prevent Leophyne from performing this attack, or just let it go off, as the fight will be almost over anyway. After a few more hits of damage, Leophyne will go down.

Watch the cutscene that follows after the Duty is complete, talk to Tentoawa, then head back toFoundationand talk to Handeloup at the Congregation. Finally, return toTuliyollaland talk to Loazenikwe to complete the final Tank Role Quest!
