The final level of each zone inAstro Botis a tribute to a legendary PlayStation Game. The fact that Camo Cosmos ends witha LocoRoco level, Going Loco, feels a little out of place compared to Tentacle System’s God of War and Serpent Starway’s Uncharted. However, when you realise that, like Gorilla Nebula’s Ape Escape, LocoRoco was developed by Japan Studio (who became Team Asobi, the developers of Astro Bot), it makes a lot more sense.

In any case, there arefive bots (all LocoRoco related) and three jigsaw pieces to findin our arrivederci to Serpent Starway, so let’s roll with it. Having already unlocked the Kulche bot in the boss battle, now we need the rest of the cast.

Bot 1

The first bot,a Chavez bot, is in thefirst rolling sectionand just needs a little jump after you crash through the wall to knock it down.

Jigsaw 1

Just after this, when youdrop down by splitting into lots of mini bots, rollrightto find the first jigsaw piece tucked away in the corner. You’ll need to regroup to be big enough to reach it, then split off to squeeze out the way you came in.

Jigsaw 2

In the next section as you roll down the ramp, the second jigsaw piece is right in the middle. Just stay on the path and it’s harder to miss than it is to grab.

Bot 2

In thepurple section with the pink rotating beams, headleft as you drop downto spring up and rescue the second bot, aPekerone bot.

Bot 3

In thesame section, after thegreen podium flings you up in the air, move backwards at the top tocrash through the broken walland rescue your third bot of the level, aPriffy bot- which does sound a little like an insult.

Jigsaw 3

In the area with the snow, roll around to reveal the flower in the middle of the three trees in a bunch. Once the snow has completely gone, the third jigsaw should appear.

Bot 4

In thesame snowy area, roll over to therightto find aTupley bottrapped in the snow. Just mow them down and we’ll all agree that counts as a rescue.

Bot 5

After you separate to getthrough the ice fence, you’ll see the final bot - aBudzi bot- waiting for you. However, you’ll overshoot it slightly, soregroup into a single blob and roll around the ice circleto crash into this bot. Again, are we calling that a rescue?

With that, you’re done with Going Loco. It will likely be many players' first experience with LocoRoco, and it’s cool to see Team Asobi explore its own history through this and Ape Escape, avoiding what must have been considerable temptation to swing for some of Sony’s biggest hitters. It’s likely the team sticks with Astro for the foreseeable future, but maybe Going Loco is the first step to a LocoRoco revival.
