Free Big Brother is one of the most interesting levels inAstro Bot, as you don’t really go anywhere. You begin on a beach with a large white robot tied down, and just have to break the locks and climb the bot to end the level. However, that gives you plenty of opportunities to wander freely, which is where this guide to every Bot, Jigsaw Piece, and Black Hole comes in.
As everything is open, you can do the first few in any order, but we’re going with the order the game lists the collectables in.
Black Hole
As soon as you land on the beach,turn around. You’ll see three rocky platforms against the cliff wall, so swim over andan electric alien will appear. You need to wait on the left and right platforms (one at a time) toget the alien to attack, activating the electric pads. Once both are on, defeat the alien andthe door on the cliff will open, revealing the black hole.
Usually, we war you that entering a black hole ends the level you’re playing early in exchange for unlocking a new level in the Lost Galaxy, but since this is the first thing you’re able to do, no progress is lost.
Bot 1
Head over tothe stepping stones in front of the giant bot’s headto see a regular bot being attacked by a slime enemy. Kill the slime and bash the bot to rescue your first one of Free Big Brother.
Jigsaw 1
To theimmediate right of these stepping stones, you’ll find acave with the first jigsaw pieceinside.
Bot 2
Keep going through the cave to findan owl with a rope. Grab it and let itcarry you around in a loop to the stone columns. Here, you canjump to the top of the cavethe first jigsaw was in to rescue the second bot, who isthe unnamed protagonist of The Last Guardian.
Jigsaw 2
Grab the same owl as before. This time, head throughthe glass doors in front of you, thenlaser jump on the glass floorto drop down into a pit with thesecond jigsaw piece.
Bot 3
In thesame area with the glass floor, at the back there is atrampolinehidden underneath. Laser jump to free it, then spring up toa higher glass door hiding a portal.Here, break the floor on the left to spring up and freeMono from Shadow of the Colossus.
The rest of the collectables can only be found after you perform the titular task of freeing Big Brother.
Jigsaw 3
Inthe middle of the map where the stepping stones are, there’s now atropical gazebowith ajigsaw piece floatingon top. You can reach it by going back to the stepping stones.
Bot 4
To theleft of the gazebo(with your back to Big Brother), you canhold Square to burrow into the sandto free the fourth bot.
Bot 5
As youclimb Big Brother, you will (rather fittingly) find theWanderer from Shadow of the Colossusclinging on to its neck. Bash him to save him, same as always.
Bot 6
As youclimb the shells around Big Brother, there’s a gapcovered by a glass floor. Stick tight to the tower andlaser jump to reveal more shells underneath,where your sixth bot is waiting to be rescued.
Bot 7
In a nice easy one to end the level, this bot iswaiting inside a clam right before the finish line. Give it a bash and that’s Big Brother freed - we’ll see him again later on.
