Summary
Capcom is no stranger to seeing its projects on the silver screen. Titles likeMonster Hunter,Resident Evil, andStreet Fighterhave all seen feature film adaptations. However, while many of these movies and TV shows are based onCapcomIP, they’re very rarely produced by the Japanese developers.
According to comments during itsrecent AGM, that could be about to change, as Capcom has said it plans on “Self-producing projects”.

Street Fighter (1994) Is Still A Big Earner
During Capcom’s AGM, the company stated that “strategically investing in movies and television shows” is a great “source of long-term growth” and is “effective as a way to introduce the appeal of our IPs and the fun of games to people who have never played games before.” It’s a synergic strategy that will both generate revenue from said TV show or movie, as well as hopefully build up an audience for Capcom’s gaming division.
However, while these adaptations will generate money for the business, they’re often outsourced to a different production company, meaning that Capcom sees diminished returns.

When asked about the company’s plans for movies and television shows, Capcom said, “Self-producing projects will be necessary for our Media business to be profitable,” adding that it is “currently working to establish the human resources and system for that.”
The company cited the 1994 Street Fighter movie as a reason for these plans, saying that it “still earns tens of millions of yen each year”.

Although Capcom didn’t share what IP they planned on self-producing projects for, it has a huge roster of highly successful franchises to choose from. The developers also currently have a handful of projects in the works from other production companies, including a new Street Fighter movie set for release in 2026 and a newMega Manproject.
The AGM summary provided an interesting insight into Capcom’s future. In addition to discussing their plans for movie and television adaptations, Capcom discussed the upcoming release ofMonster Hunter Wilds, the sales figures forDragon’s Dogma 2, and its consideration of creating regularMega Mangames.
