That’s where you’re wrong, and the Kickstarter for Reforged, the Broken Sword remaster, proved that beyond a shadow of a doubt.The Kickstarter tripled its goaland if you’re only learning about it now, it’s too late to jump on the bandwagon. A secondary bandwagon has arrived though as the standard, deluxe, and special editions of Broken Sword: Reforged are now available to pre-order.
It was confirmed last week that Reforged will be here sooner than you might think, releasing onPlayStation,Xbox,Nintendo Switch, andPCon July 27, 2025. Joining some heavy hitters in what has quickly become a very busy month for new games, not only are pre-orders now live, but Red Art Games has confirmed there will be a physical release beyond the now unavailable collector’s edition.
The standard edition is available on PlayStation, Xbox, and Switch and while there isn’t a pre-order bonus, it does come with a booklet in select regions, something that used to be an industry standard but you don’t see much of anymore. There are different sites to go to depending on where you’re ordering from. The PEGI-rated (UK and Europe) version of Broken Sword: Reforged’s standard edition is available directly from Red Art Games, whereas the ESRB-rated (North America) version is available exclusively at VGP.

This is where things get a little confusing. For starters, the deluxe and special editions of Broken Sword: Reforged are not available on Xbox. Second of all, the deluxe edition is exclusively available in the UK and Europe, while the special edition is available in North America. The difference between the two editions is the deluxe includes more stuff than the special edition. Both editions come with a keychain based on George’s original design, but only the deluxe edition comes with a physical copy of the soundtrack, and a sleeve featuring the cover art from the original game.
The deluxe and special editions of Broken Sword: Reforged are a little different. The special edition comes with the George keychain, but the deluxe edition includes the OST and an alternative sleeve.
Broken Sword: Reforged will be playable at Gamescom so if you’re in attendance, you’ll be able to check out its improved visuals and other enhancements before anyone else. Elsewhere in Broken Sword’s world, the wait continues for the teased sixth game in the series. It’s been almost 11 years since Broken Sword 5 was released, meaning the gap between new games is now quite a bit longer than any to have come before it.
