Summary

Ah, the cruel, tactical world of Intravenous 2; it isn’t everyday you get to tear your way through hundreds of mercenaries and criminals. Although, it’s less about them, and more about who they’re protecting: the scum that kidnapped your dad and strong armed you into carrying out assassinations for them.

This is the core plot of the game, and while Sean and Steve, the main characters you play as, are quite skilled in stealth, subterfuge, and armed combat, that doesn’t mean every weapon in the game will magically make every mission you take on a cake walk. Thankfully, you have options.

8B&T VP9

Let’s get this out of the way from the start: if you like playing loud, this isn’t the weapon for you. Odds are, you’ll just be annoyed by the small ammo capacity, low stopping power, and what can only be called an agonizing reload speed during a firefight.

So what makes it good?If you’re a stealth player, this is one of very few weapons that can fire bullets as quiet as a whisper. If you don’t mind playing methodically, this sidearm can drop bodies without blowing your cover, no problem; just make sure nobody sees your dirty work.

7MP5N

Being chambered in 9mm, the MP5N certainly doesn’t have the most stopping power compared to other calibers, but it does have a high fire rate, and access to one of the most common ammo types in the game.

You don’t have to do anything fancy to unlock this gun, and even if you don’t want to slap a ton of mods onto it and use it as your starting, primary weapon, you can almost always scoop one off a goon you just dusted if things get desperate.

6Desert Eagle

Aside from the obvious and massive increase to your ‘cool guy’ stat, using a Desert Eagle as your sidearm is the perfect tool to have when you need to blast a baseball sized hole into that mercenary watching security cameras.

All jokes aside, this weapon could be the difference between a mission’s success or failure; if you’re out of ammo with a primary weapon, this pistol is your best bet when it comes to dealing high damage and penetrating enemy plate carriers, often killing in two shots or less.

5Doors

There’s no need to clean your glasses. You read it right the first time: doors. Sure, this is a bit of a gimmick, but at the same time, kicking open a door with an enemy or two right behind it will knock them out instantly.

Whether you’re doing it because it’s funny, you’re in a dire situation, or you’re chasing revenge for having the same thing happen to you, it’s important to remember that doors in this game are more than just access points to be lock-picked.

4AR-15

If you’re looking for an incredibly modular, accurate, and dependable rifle, look no further than the AR-15. Chambered in 5.56, you have a nice middle ground between stopping power, recoil, and accuracy, which is further enhanced by foregrips, barrel attachments, sights, and stocks.

If you love playing loud, spend a few thousand bucks on weapon mods, throw on your heaviest armor, grab some grenades or any other gadget you prefer, and get to work. Just remember that this caliber is a bit rarer than other ammo types.

Try switching to semi-auto if you burn through bullets.

3Saiga-12K

If you’re struggling on a mission where you’re getting swarmed in buildings, alleyways, or corridors by sizable groups of enemies, the Saiga-12K is the most straightforward way to turn big problems into brief puffs of red mist;thank god for semi-auto, magazine-fed shotguns.

The only downside to this weapon is it’s most effective at short range, especially with buckshot, but if you’re feeling experimental, you may opt for a suppressor and slugs to gain more range and accuracy. Just do whatever feels right; this game is about adaptation, ingenuity, and options.

2HK417

If you’re going into a hornet’s nest, you might as well bring a gun with some serious oomph, and when it comes down to a size contest, what could be better than the HK417, a semi-automatic rifle chambered in 7.62x51mm NATO.

Of course, you won’t be able to bring in as much ammo as other weapons due to the sheer size of these hefty rounds, but rest assured, anything you hit is going to be having a terrible day. If they’re even breathing after the first hit, that is.

1AS VAL

While you can only unlock this weapon late into the game’s story from an optional Gunsmith mission, it’s well worth it since the AS VAL can be seen as a Goldilocks gun, bridging the gap between quiet firing, and ammo that packs a surprising punch, even with subsonic rounds.

Thanks to an integral suppressor, you could fire off an entire 20-round magazine, and still have a chance to not blow your cover.

Fun fact: the AS VAL’s barrel has multiple rows of holes drilled into it, with an expansion chamber surrounding it, allowing pressure to escape as each round travels out the weapon, thus reducing noise.
