If you want to seriously get into crafting and gathering in Dawntrail, you’ll definitely want to spend time farming Purple Scrips for both Disciples of the Hand and Land. Below, we’ll take a look at a few of the best ways to gather both of these Purple Scrip types.
For both Crafters and Gatherers, these methods assume you arelevel 100 with level 100 gear. If you’re still leveling up,Custom DeliveriesandCrystalline Mean/Studium/WachumeqimeqiDeliveries are a good way of getting both EXP and Purple Scrips.
Best Way To Farm Purple Crafters' Scrips
For Purple Crafters' Scrips, you have a lot of different options. For the most part, the best way to get this resource is to craft thelevel 99 Collectablefor your chosen Crafting Job, as these items reward thehighest amount of Purple Scrips. That said, there are a few Jobs that will have an easier time of this than others, mainly due to the materials used in each recipe.
Considering thecost, ease of gathering, and Scrips earned, here are the best options and their recipes.
Rarefied Stuffed Peppers are the best option by farwhen considering the amount of pre-crafts and items you need to gather, requiring theleast amount of gathered items per craft. Plus,Turali Corn Oil and Ut’ohmu Chili Sauce are crafted three at a time, meaning the base materials listed above will actually get you more than one Collectable.
Rarefied Gargantuaskin TrousersandRarefied Thunderyards Silk Glovesare both good options, but they need a fewmore gathered items per craft, and are alsomore expensive in terms of Bicolor Gemstonesor gil if you instead by the leather from the Market Board.
For other Jobs, the Collectables are much less appealing due to their recipes requiringBlack Stars. This item needstwo tiers of pre-crafts, making it a bit more time-consuming to farm up a bunch of Collectable items. This also makes the number ofgathered items per craft much higherthan the other options listed above.
However, if time isn’t a concern for you, the Blacksmith-craftedRarefied Ra’Kaznar War Scytheis a good option, especially if you have aMiner Retainerto gather the ore for you.
Best Way To Farm Purple Gatherers' Scrips
Collecting Purple Scrips for Gatherers is much simpler than Crafters. For Miners and Botanists, you’ll be gathering thetimed nodesas they pop up, duringtwo Eorzean-hour intervals. As long as you have bothMiner and Botanist leveled and geared, there will always be anew node every two hours.
These items reward between14 to 16 Purple Gatherers' Scrips eachat base Collectability, and between35 and 38 at the maximum Collectabilityof 1,000.
You can alsogather Collectables from previous expansionsif your gear isn’t strong enough to hit the max Collectability for Dawntrail materials yet. Endwalker Collectables are still worth a competitive amount of Scrips, whileShadowbringers and older aren’t really worth the time it takes to gather them.
Be sure tomake ample use of Hi-Cordialsto keep your GP up if you plan on hitting every node back-to-back.
What To Spend Purple Scrips On
If you’re capped on Purple Scrips and don’t know what to spend them on, don’t worry. Even if you don’t plan to get deep into Crafting and Gathering, you can make good money on the side by doing weekly Custom Deliveries and turning your Scrips into Materia, for example.
Before dumping your Purple Scrips into Materia, however, we recommend getting each of theMaster Recipe Booksfor every Crafting Job, and all of theRegional Folklore Booksfor Gatherers.
Each Crafter Master Recipe Book added in Dawntrail costs1,200 Purple Crafters' Scrips, or9,600 Scrips in total.
For Gatherers, Regional Folklore Books cost1,600 each, for atotal of 14,400 PurpleGatherers' Scrips.
Once you’ve cleared out these items, you can choose to focus onstocking up on Crafter and Gatherer Materia; either to sell or use for melding your gear later. Pentamelding a full set of Crafting or Gathering gear takestens of thousands of Purple Scrips, so you’ll definitely want to start saving as much as possible.
