Concordis the newest in a line of hero-based arena shooters that separates itself with an interesting story and a world built around it, focusing on space travel and introducing alien characters. With the promise of regular vignettes to enhance the story, each crew member should receive a spotlight.
Each character in Concord’s roster is uniquely voiced and even motion captured by talented and rising actors that pay special attention to inclusivity. Some actors in the roster have a deep history with video games, while others made their careers in entirely unrelated creative sectors, using their talents to portray unique characters.
17Captain - Pamala Tyson
Captain is both the title and name of the AI computer controlling the Northstar, the ship the main freegunners use to travel across the galaxy. Although technically a computer, Captain feels much more alive than your average AI.
Captain is voiced by Pamala Tyson, who has acting roles as far back as 1991 in Jungle Fever, and has been acting in movies, TV shows, and games since, including the Dead Rising and Call of Duty series.
16Lennox - Derek Phillips
A plucky sharpshooter with a confusing relationship with Captain, Lennox resembles a western cowboy with multiple, quickdraw handguns. Among the crew, Lennox is the pragmatic idealist who holds his loyalty to the crew of the Northstar above all else, and implied to be centuries old.
Voicing Lennox is Derek Philips, who has had many acting roles in both film and games, but is most recognizeable as his roles inLife is Strangeas Mark Jefferson and Elder Maxson inFallout 4.
15Star Child - Derek Mears
One of the more alien looking members of the Northstar, closely resembling Drax from Guardians of the Galaxy in personality, Star Child prefers close-range engagement with his powerful fists and shotgun.
Star Child is a proud warrior with idealist views of honor, if slightly hindered in detecting nuances of conversation, and is voiced by Derek Mears. Mears has a long history of performances in both TV and games with a focus on creature acting that translates well to Star Child.
14Haymar - Lana McKissack
One of the few freegunners shown in the Concord cinematic trailer, Haymar is the pessimistic loner who begrudgingly accepts her role as part of a team. She is also one of the few characters that has the ability to wield magic.
With a vague resemblance to the character, Haymar is voiced by Lana McKissack, one of many of Concord’s actors that have dozens of roles in TV and games, most notably as the Mistress of Flame in the Transformers series.
131-Off - Armen Taylor
A repurposed robot meant for recycling garbage, 1-Off is a happy-go-lucky mechanical giant that more or less serves as the comic relief for the crew of the Northstar. In gameplay, 1-Off has cleverly transformed his cleaning tools into weapons of destruction.
It wouldn’t be a Concord voice actor if they didn’t have an extensive resume in both TV and video games, and 1-Off’s voice actor, Armen Taylor, is no exception. His many roles include projects in One Piece,League of Legends, and JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure.
12Teo - Alan Pontes
One of the more straightforward freegunners among the Northstar, Teo is a trained soldier and tactician that always gets the job done. Although not shown in the release cinematic, Teo appears in an early cinematic vignette discussing mission details.
Teo is voiced by Alan Pontes, who has a shorter resume compared to most of the Northstar cast, and Concord is his first appearance in a game. Unfortunately, Alan Pontes wasn’t given much to do with one of the most normal characters in Concord.
11Jabali - James Mathis III
A healer-focused character with an outgoing personality, Jabali uses his “Life Pulse” to share his life force with his fellow freegunners. Only appearing in gameplay, Jabali has yet to make an appearance in a vignette.
Jabali is voiced by James Mathis III, who has a very extensive history of voicing video game characters. Although overshadowed by his role in Baby Shark’s Big Show!, Mathis has credits inGod of War, The Callisto Protocol, andThe Last of Us Part 2.
10Lark - Jerome Black
One of the more diverse looking freegunners, Lark is a sentient fungus that uses spores to expand their consciousness throughout the battlefield. Lark’s voice lines and abilities imply a naturalistic brutality suitable to a living mushroom.
Voicing lark is Jerome Beck, with Concord being their first appearance in a video game. However, Beck’s experience is in theater, with roles in performances of It Is Magic, Dontrell, Who Kissed the Sea, and Rightlynd.
9DaVeers - Janzy Paraiso
A chemist with safety in mind, DaVeers controls the battlefield using globs of flammable goop mixed with a high-explosive grenade launcher. Their cocksure attitude mixed with reliance on PPE also makes them stand out from the crew.
DaVeers is voiced by Janzy Paraiso, who also has Concord as their first acting credit in a video game. They are most noticeable, however, in their roles in Black-ish and Criminal Minds, but hopefully, we can see them in more major roles in other games.
8Emari - Christine Rose Schermerhorn
One of the most heavily armored freegunners in the game, Emari focuses on protecting her crew with her massive shield and gun that makes her stand out on the battlefield.
Emari is voiced by Christine Rose Schermerhorn, who has Concord as her third acting credit in a video game, followed byThirsty Suitorsand Journey to Foundation. Her most recent acting credits imply a knack for science fiction, which seems to suit her.
