Steamworld Heist 2gives players a lot of options; each playable character can perform all six of the different jobs, allowing for an impressive amount of party customization. Unfortunately, this also means it can be hard to determine each character’s ideal function within the strategic sandbox.
This might seem like the case for Sola at first, but after unlocking the potential of her personal upgrades, it becomes clear that she can do some serious damage to the enemies you’ll encounter on your seafaring journey. By diversifying her class portfolio and making smart investments with Cogs, you’ll transform Sola into a serious threat.

Personal Upgrade: Secrets Of The Deep
Sola’s explosive potential is built around her personal upgrade. The first skill,Eldritch Beam, willfire a long laser beam around the environment, bouncing off walls, piercing through enemies, anddealing five damage. When you upgrade it to Secrets of the Deep, itbecomes a free action, doingten damage and healing one HP for every bot scrapped by the attack.
Its one shortcoming is thatthe ability has a gargantuan cooldown of ten turns, althoughit is reduced by one turn every time Sola scraps an enemy bot. Thus, theoptimal build puts her in a position where she racks up kills fast, allowing her access to Secrets of the Deep once again.

Starting Build: Reaper
Sola will join your crew as a Boomer, butthe Reaper job suits her best. The class has abase skill called Kill Shot, whichallows her to shoot again if she has already scrapped a bot this turn. This willallow Sola to stack kills easilyandbring her closer to earning Secrets of the Deep.
At level four, she’ll learn Harvest. This is similar to Kill Shot, except that it has no limit. With Kill Shot, if you scrap a bot, earn another chance to shoot, and then scrap another enemy, your turn will end.Harvest lets you keep going, so if your aim is true, you can potentially wipe out the entire enemy team in one turn, racking up an impressive number of kills. War Cry is another great tool in your arsenal, helpingallies within one Aura of you deal even more damage.
Second Class: Engineer
After completing the Reaper skill tree, you’ll want toswitch over to Engineerto claim those abilities. Reaching level 5 will give you access toFeel the Burn, a passive that will not onlyincrease your damage, but alsoinflict Burn on your targets, further eating away at their health bars.
You’ll also want tospend Cogs on the Aura abilities, namely Amped Up, Greased Up, and Wide Aura. These willbuff both you and your allies when huddled together, making Sola useful as a utility character even if she isn’t nabbing every kill.
You may want toinvest two of your cogs into the Boomer skill treetounlock the Slot Machine ability. Thisgives you access to three utility itemsand further build customization.
Equipped Items
When looking at what items to equip Sola with,Super Aura Boosteris a great choice. Itincreases the area across which your Aura passives take effect by two tiles, making them more useful and applicable to more situations.
Given that you’re building Sola to do a lot of damage, theTitanium Casings will give you another small boostto both yourfirepower and hand-to-hand combat skills. If you elect tospend some Cogs on the Slot Machine ability, a defensive item likeReinforced Plating should be your third selection, expanding your health pool. Sola is ready to ravage enemy bots, but she can’t do that if she’s dead!
