Summary
The enemies inBlack Myth: Wukongdon’t pull their punches, and if you’re not paying complete attention, fights can be lost very quickly for The Destined One. Luckily for our protagonist, you’ll unlock a wide variety of different armor to equip throughout the game’s run.
Of course, not all of these armor sets are created equal, and you’ll want to experiment with which one works best for you. Armor sets don’t just provide an increase in defence, but also include set bonuses for having a certain number of pieces equipped, and a certain piece might have its own unique buff. So, with all this to consider, which armor sets should you look out for?
8Galeguard Beastmaw Set
A lot of the sets of armor you’ll unlock earlier on in Black Myth: Wukong will unfortunately be unviable the later you get into the game, with some sets just clearly improving upon them. However, once you unlock armor upgrading with Yin Tiger, you’ll be able to make some of your mid-game armor last long into the late-game.
One set that you can easily get attached to is theGaleguard Beastmaw Armorset, which gives The Destined One extra buffs for perfect dodging. If you have two pieces of the set equipped, you’ll get more focus added to the meter every time you perfect dodge, and with the full set you’ll get a reduction on your spell cooldown every time you pull off the manoeuvre.
7Ochre Set
Some armor sets throughout Black Myth: Wukong are clearly designed to suit different play styles better, and depending on which spells you use in your build, you might find a set that perfectly compliments your favourite combat skills.
For example, the Ochre set of armor only needs three pieces of the set to be equipped (leaving a spot free for a miscellaneous mask of your choice) to get it’s buff, which adds extra damage reduction to your decoy fromCloud Stepand any duplicates created byA Pluck of Many.
6Loongscale Set
Another fantastic three-piece armor set to keep an eye out for is the Loongscale set. There are certain sets of armor that are perfect fortaking on specific bossesor particular areas of the map that will inflict different banes.
The Loongscale set is perfect if you are facing any foes that inflict the Shock bane (which will increase the damage you take) since its buff will reduce the time you’re suffering from the affliction, and it’ll also boost the thunder damage you deal too.
5Yin Yang Daoist Robe
While most of the armor sets in Black Myth: Wukong can be equipped purely for the defence bonus, some are better if you are looking for a specific playstyle to be complimented. The best example of this is the one-piece Yin Yang Daoist Robe.
This piece will put you in the Yang state if you have more than half your health, which will reduce the damage you take but also disables the possibility to deal critical damage. Inversely, when you are under half health, you’ll be in Yin state, which massively boosts crit chance.
Yin state also makes you take a lot more damage.
4Non-Pure Armor Set
Some of the most fun abilities to build your playstyle around in Black Myth: Wukong are the ones that transform The Destined One, whether that’s short Spirit attacks, or theslightly longer Transformation spells.
TheNon-Pureset is perfect if you love to use either or both of these abilities frequently. If you have two pieces equipped, you’ll get mud stains for a short while after leaving a Spirit attack or de-transforming that will increase your damage reduction. With four pieces, you’ll increase your might recovery when covered in mud stains while also getting more might for dodging successfully.
3Embroidered Armor Set
There are some armor sets in Black Myth: Wukong that provide risk alongside the reward of their buffs. One set that encapsulates this is the full set bonus for the Embroidered armor set.
If you only have two pieces on, you’ll get the straightforward (but still useful) bonus damage onPillar Stanceattacks, but if you have the whole set, you’re going to get an increase for all damage dealt, but also take more damage too. This is great if you’re confident in your dodging ability, but if not, you’re going to be spending a lot more time healing than usual.
2Centipede Qiang-Jin Set
While some sets add some risk by having a potentially dangerous buff, some instead just reward using a slightly more unconventional playstyle. No set encapsulates this more than theCentipede Qiang-Jin Armorset.
When having two pieces of this set equipped, you’ll take less damage when poisoned, but with all four pieces, you’ll deal more damage when you’re poisoned. By doing this, the game incentivizes intentionally getting poisoned, which is possible with certain items.
This, of course, necessitates more active health management.
1Gold Suozi Set
After making it to the final chapter of Black Myth: Wukong, you’ll be given a massive sprawling area to explore using theSomersault Cloudability, and you’ll need to beat a series of bosses to progress to the next area, but this doesn’t go unrewarded, with each boss giving you one piece of theGold Suozi Armorset.
This set is undeniably the ultimate armor set you’ll get in Black Myth: Wukong, providing a crit chance boostafter using a spellwith two pieces, and then spell cooldown reduction after landing a critical hit with all four pieces. While you can upgrade certain sets to get close to this one, this is the best option for getting through the last few bosses.
