Summary
One of the most satisfying elements of playingDungeons of Hinterbergis finding loot in every corner of the game’s world. No matter if you’re exploring one of the four open areas of the world or one of the 25 (or so) dungeons, there is always a chest hidden somewhere.
Arguably, the best thing you can find in a chest is new armor since you’re always looking for a way to make Luisa sturdier so she can take on tougher enemies in harder dungeons. With so many different types of armor available throughout the game, which pieces should you look out for, and when is the best time to equip it?

8Resonant Pads
One of the three main armor categories for Luisa is Pads, and one type of armor you can find to help raise the defense in this category is Resonant Pads. Unlike some of the other armor on this list, you can find different strengths of Resonant Pads throughout the whole game, so verify to switch to the strongest type you have available.
When To Equip Resonant Pads
What makes Resonant Pads (and all other Resonant pieces of armor in general) so special is that their strength is doubled based on specific social stats. Usually, they’re only worth equipping when this effect is activated, so make sure you’re passively grinding these stats when you’re not dungeon-crawling.
7Windsbraut Body Armor
Perhaps a weakness of Dungeons of Hinterberg, is that aside from a couple of outliers, you’ll be facing off against most of the bosses in the game quite late on, and that means that you’ll be locked from getting their unique armor until you defeat them. However, that doesn’t change the fact that theWindsbrautBody Armor is one of the best body armors in the game and makes beating this tricky boss worth it.
When To Equip Windsbraut Body Armor
The only time you won’t want to be using this body armor is if you are building up your relationship with Samkele. Maxing out his friendship will get you better body armor than this, but otherwise, this is the best body armor you’ll find.
6Wassermann’s Resonant Leggings
Likely the last dungeon you’ll complete in Dungeons of Hinterberg is the one that contains the boss fight againstWassermann. This boss is surprisingly simple for being in one of the few Level nine Dungeons, but that doesn’t change the fact that his leggings are one of the best you can equip throughout the game.
When To Equip Wassermann’s Resonant Leggings
There are two reasons why Wassermann’s Resonant Leggings are unfortunately quite niche in their use. Firstly, because they are so late-game, and secondly because they are resonant, but by the time you have them, your relaxation will likely be high enough to trigger the buff.
5Perfect Dodge Slowdown Charm
Charms are some of the best equipment you may have access to in Dungeons of Hinterberg, and since you have the option to have a few equipped at once, unlike other armor, there are a lot of unique combinations available. One certain charm you should always keep equipped is Perfect Dodge Slowdown.
When To Equip Perfect Dodge Slowdown Charm
Having access to the slowdown time effect when you dodge just at the right time will always be useful, whether you’re fighting hordes of enemies or just one tough monster. You’ll get access to this charm early, so make sure to keep it equipped for as long as possible.
4Spellguard Leggings
Another type of armor that you will keep getting throughout your play is Spellguard pieces, so ensure you are switching them out when you get a better version of the same piece. Getting the extra defense against magic attacks will only get more important as you keep getting further into the game.
When To Equip Spellguard Leggings
Spellguard armor, as the name suggests, increases defense against magic attacks. Magic attacks are more common later in Dungeons of Hinterberg, so leveling up your Spellguard Leggings in the late-game is a perfect way to ensure the tougher enemies are doing less damage.
3Damage Reflect Charm
Another charm to keep equipped is the Damage Reflect Charm. This will only become available later on in your adventure in Dungeons of Hinterberg, but the wait is worth it. This charm will occasionally return a portion of the damage you take back on enemies, making it a great option for doing passive damage.
When To Equip Damage Reflect Charm
The main drawback is that the Damage Reflect Charm takes up quite a lot of space by default, but by the time you receive it, you’ll hopefully have enough resources to shrink it with the scientist so it can fit into your build easily.
2Sam’s Legendary Body Armor
If you find yourself drawn to building a relationship with Samkele during your time in Hinterberg, then you’ll be rewarded upon completing the friendship by getting Sam’s Legendary Body Armor. This is some of the best body armor you’re able to get and is well worth leveling up all the way.
When To Equip Sam’s Legendary Body Armor
Compared to the body armor you get from Windsbraut, Sam’s armor is available a lot earlier depending on how quickly you may max out his relationship, so make sure to equip it as soon as you get it since it easily outclasses other pieces.
1Basilisk Pads
Compared to the other boss armor you’ll get, theBasiliskPads will likely be available a little earlier since this boss is a bit easier to access than the later ones. This means that the Basilisk Pads will likely be the first gold pieces of armor you get, and because of their superior stats, you’ll want to keep them equipped for the rest of the game.
When To Equip Basilisk Pads
you should take on the Basilisk as soon as you have a good base of HP since if you beat it early enough, you’ll get access to the amazing Basilisk Pads earlier than usual to get a great defense boost to carry you through the late game.
