You’re the new Headmaster inLet’s School, and your task is to educate the students from nearby communities, train up your teachers, and verify everyone is happy and successful. If you’re feeling overwhelmed by the demands of trying to run a school, a few helpful beginner tips may be just what you need to help.
The game does offer a tutorial, which we recommend following, but there are a few things that the tutorial leaves out. So we’ve got some beginner tips for you here to help make your first time playing Let’s School go as smoothly as possible.
Make Sure You Add Lights To Each Room
No one likes walking around in the dark. But if you build classrooms and offices without lights, yourstudents, teachers, and staff will be doing just that. The game doesn’t specifically tell you to add lights when you build new rooms,so it’s easy to miss.
While you’re still in build mode for the room that you’re building, go to theLighting tab. At the beginning of the game you’ll have two options:Incandescent LightorIncandescent Top Lamp. Either of those should be fine till you get better options. Put about three or four lights in the room and you’ll see the room light up. Yay,your people can see now!
Already built your classroom and forgot lights? Don’t worry. Just open your main build menu, select Furniture, then tab over to Lighting.
Keep The School Stocked With Cleaning And Fire Safety Supplies
Keeping your school stocked with cleaning supplies and fire-fighting equipment is agreat way to keep your school clean and free from fire damage.
In the early days, you will only havetrash cans and basic fire-fighting equipment(buckets of water). Place as many as you can of each around the school to cover as much ground as possible. Students and faculty willautomatically throw trash away, and once a fire breaks out, nearby teachers will automatically get what they need andput the fire out.
As you continue your research and unlock school reforms, better cleaning and fire safety equipment will become available, like a Cleaning Supplies Cabinet, Umbrella Stand, Fire Alarm, and a Fire Safety Cabinet. All of these items can be found inthe Furniture menu, under Hygiene and Security.
Under the clock in theupper left-hand corner, there’s an option to change the view to see thecoverage areas for food, fire safety, medicine, etc. This can help you know what areas of the school are covered and what areas are lacking.

Pause The Game Whenever You Get A Chance
That pause buttonwill be your best friend in this game, especially right at the beginning when you’re still figuring things out. In the image above, thered border around the screenmeans the game is paused.
Time moves extremely fast in this game. If you’re working on moving students into classrooms, setting class schedules, or building, you’re not paying attention to the needs of your students and faculty. So, whenever you need to do any kind of maintenance, pause the game, and then resume when you’re done.
Build A New Classroom Each Semester
Whenever a new semester begins, you’ll get aninflux of new year 1 students, especially when you start expanding out into other communities. The previous year one classrooms automatically upgrade to year two classrooms, so thesenew students will need a place to goor they’ll just wander around aimlessly.
New students mean more money and contribution points for the school. These things help you to improve the school building, train teachers, andlevel up your school.
Don’t Spend Too Much Money In One Day
When you start building the different rooms that you need, it can be easy toblindly spend all the moneyyou have in your school funds.
But if you spend it all, you’ll end up with a negative balancewhen the day ends and your bills hit. And though you can easily get a lot of that back the next morning when your students pay their tuition for the day, when you’re still early in the gameit might not be enough.
If you absolutely need to build something that you may’t wait on, there are loan options. The first option, 10,000, will help give you a nice boost. The following loans are unlocked when you reach certain levels.
To take out a loan and check your finances, open the Auxiliary Wheelon the bottom right of the HUD andselect Statistics.
If you take out a loan, keep in mind that your loan repaymentswill be added to your end-of-day bills, so be sure to account for that.
Stay On Top Of Research And Teacher Training
Researching is how you’llunlock new thingsfor your school likehigher-level classes, clubs, better facilities, and more. Once you build your first Research Room and assign researchers, some of the first things we recommend that you research is aFood Tent and the Junior-level academics.
The game shows you approximately how long it’ll take to research a topic, and that time islargely dependent on the collective Research Proficiency of the researchers you’ve assigned. The higher it is, the faster research is finished.
Additionally, it’s important to train your teachers in Teaching Proficiency, so they are better able to educate your students. In the beginning, you can only train one at a time. But once you have a Training Room, you’ll be able totrain four teachers or staff at a time per Training Room.
Dispatch Field Trips To Scout New Areas As Soon As Possible
The dispatch map is what you’ll use to send out classroom groups to scout nearby areas. These field trips can help you find other communities where you canestablish admissions offices and get more students.
As you explore the dispatch map, you’llalso unlock other places to send dispatch teams to, including a grocery store, a construction store, a training academy, a farm, and more!
Manage Stress Levels Of Teachers And Staff
You want your school to be a stress-free place for both your teachers and your other staff. If any of them feel like they’re overworked, they can start to get stressed. If it gets really bad,the teacher or staff member may quit and leave your school.
Things that can affect stress levels include:
If a teacher or staff member is stressed out, you’ll know by thecircle above their heads. Usually it’ll indicate what’s wrong (too cold, sick, etc.), or it’ll just be a red angry face. You can also go into eachfaculty member’s profileand look at theirstress meter. If they’re stressed, hover over the stress meter and you’ll see a description of what is wrong.
