Gundam Breaker 4is a hack-and-slash action game set in the virtual game world of Gunpla Battle Blaze: Beyond Borders, or GB4 for short. In GB4, you’ll be able to build your own custom gunpla using parts obtained by breaking them off of enemies, combining pieces from all sorts of different mobile suits from throughout the Gundam anime universe.

Customizing and battling with your own custom gunpla model is tons of fun, and thankfully Gundam Breaker 4 has quite a bit of depth to sink your teeth into. From upgrading the skills and abilities of your weapons to posing your mobile suit in a diorama, there’s lots to do in GB4. Below, we’ll take a look at a few tips for beginners to the game and series as a whole.

Stay On Top Of Weapon Upgrades

In Gundam Breaker 4, you may equip up to four weapons at a time—two close-range weapons and two long-range weapons, not counting the tons of optional parts you can equip to adjust your loadout. As you might expect, yourweapons are the most important part of your build, and you should be constantly upgrading them throughout the main story.

At first, this meansreplacing your weapons withhigher-level versionsas you get them, but once you reach Chapter 3, you can start upgrading andsynthesizing the weaponitself, ensuring your favorites are kept up-to-date. In the meantime, if you feel like your damage is falling behind, try equipping some stronger weapons.

The main stat to look for when deciding on a weapon upgrade is itsLong-Range or Close-Range Power, which dictates its overall damage dealt.

Once you unlock synthesis, the customization options really open up. Through this upgrade system, you canlevel up your favorite parts, increase their rarity (which unlocks new ability slots), and add new abilities to them.

This means that you canuse any gunpla part, no matter what its abilities are, and simplymake it stronger through synthesis, allowing you to craft the perfect mobile suit without having to sacrifice functionality.

Experiment With EX And OP Skills

Extreme Skills (EX) and Option Skills (OP) are two types of active skills you can use in battle. EX Skills require EX Gauge to be used, while OP Skills each have individual cooldowns. You can equip up tofour EX Skillsandeight OP Skillsat a time, so it’s definitely worth experimenting with which ones to bring!

These skills are tied to the pieces you equipto your model, so you’ll have to keep this in mind when deciding which parts to equip. Some parts don’t bring any skills at all, but have stronger abilities (like Recover HP on Attack Hit, Max Duration: Hit Combo, Reaction Speed: Performance, and so on). you’re able to always test new abilities by using theActive Test Modefrom your room when assembling your mobile suit.

Customization Is Half The Game

At its core, Gundam Breaker 4 is a game for gunpla fans. Customizing your gunpla’s parts, adjusting its paint job, adding decals, and then finally posing it in a diorama and taking pictures is a massive part of the game.

Of course, if this doesn’t sound appealing to you, you can by all means ignore it. If you want, you can equip all parts from your favorite kit, use the default color palettes, and go from there. You definitely aren’t forced to interact with the photography or diorama modes, but if your shelves are lined with gunpla kits (and even more are still in their boxes), GB4 will be your virtual playground for hours to come.

You can change the name of your gunpla model bysaving it as a Blueprint, then selecting it and choosingEnter Mobile Suit Name.

Take Your Time

To that point, we definitely recommendtaking yourtime, especially through the main story. If you get a few new parts after a mission, head to your room and test them out! Spend time customizing your build, deciding between different arms or weapons, taking some before and after pictures of your model, and so on.

There are dozens of missions to do in GB4, but they aren’t going anywhere. Maybe there’s a part you want from a side mission that will finalize your build, or maybe you want to grind some side missions because you need more GP to buy a few gunpla kits from the shop. Whatever you do, just know thatGundam Breaker 4 isn’t a sprint to the finish.

Learn Your Way Around Diorama Mode

As mentioned above, customization and photography are big parts of GB4, and thediorama modeis one of the best parts. Here, you may essentially build your own sceneshowcasing your custom gunplaorready-made models purchased from the shop.

There are tons of different options to explore here, like adding special effects like explosions, lighting options, poses, and much, much more. Plus, you can even upload photographs taken from your diorama to the gallery for other players to see and vote on. Recreate scenes from your favorite Gundam series or create entirely new ones, the choice is yours!

Utilize Breaker Boosters

Breaker Boostersare special items that you can toggle on before a mission thatgreatly increases the amount of gunpla parts you get, and therarity and level of those parts will be higher. You can get Breaker Boosters bycompleting a mission with an S-Rank result.

This means that, as long as you continuously get S-Rank results, you willnever run out of Breaker Boosters, even if you use them to clear the mission. This is a great way to get new and stronger parts for your mobile suit, or build up fodder to be used for synthesis later.

Gathering GP

GP is the universal currency within GB4, used for everything from buying new model kits to synthesizing parts. Synthesis can get prettyexpensive at later levels, so if you ever feel like your GP stocks are running low, don’t fret! There are a few different avenues you can take to get the cash rolling back in.

The fastest, but most RNG-dependent way to get GP is tofind extra enemiesin any mission. These enemies aresmall gunpla that don’t participate in the battle, instead running around the mission area. If you defeat one of these guys before they escape, you’ll instantly be rewarded with a ton of GP, sometimes in the range of100,000 at a time.

These small extra enemiesappear on the radar as a gold blip, so keep an eye out for a chance to score a large amount of GP.

Additionally, you cansell unwanted gunpla partsfor a bit of extra GP, and you’re able to even do this from the mission results page. Since you can only carry 1,500 of each type of part (and the number of parts you have will skyrocket once you start grinding later missions with Breaker Boosters), it’s definitely a good idea to get rid of your unwanted parts and keep the GP.
