If crafting survival games bring you joy,Ocean World: Eden Craftersmay just be your next stop. Unlike many other crafting survival games, the planet you’re supposed to terraform in this game is covered mostly in water. Inititally, that situation may seem ideal, but there are challenges.

You’ll have the opportunity in this prologue to turn the tides, literally, in humanity’s favor if you choose the path to make the planet habitable. While the game sets you up with a great tutorial, there are tips which can help you maximize your resources for a solid terraforming beginning.

Ocean World: Eden Crafters is currently in development. This guide currently covers the prologue, whichgives access to the Ocean-based planet, and will be updated for the full release.

Eden Crafters Survival Basics

Similar to other crafting survival games, you’ll need to take care of your basic needs. Unlike many other games in the genre, you’ll be able tosurvive on just the basic Food Can. They are the cheapest food items to make, but you’ll also need to use the organic material from Plant Growers to make things such as Rubber.

It’s best tobuild at least two Plant Growers. Two is a decent number for starting your adventure, and with some patience, can even be sufficient for the entire prologueif you don’t feel like making more. Ultimately, they are inexpensive to make, so if you dislike waiting, or you’d prefer to make more expensive food items, you’re able to easily craft more Plant Growers.

Falling intodeep water is the worstthreat to your existence. Itsaps your energy at an alarming rate, then begins sapping your health and oxygen as your character flounders around and panics a bit. If you had dreams of swimming, you probably won’t get to realize those for quite some time, if at all. It might be possible once the full version of the game is out, but not in the prologue.

If you lose enough oxygen or health, you can die, but these circumstances are easy to mitigate and shouldn’t pose any real threat as long as you’re paying attention to your health panel in the lower left corner of your screen.

If you do happen to die,the good news is that you won’t lose anything you had in your inventory. You won’t even have to traipse around to locate the spot where you died. You’ll respawn in a safe spot near your death location.

Deaths are rare in the game, but they cause the camera angle to switch during the death. You’ll watch a mini-cutscene of your character as it dies. This may be uncomfortable for some people, especially due to some realistic depictions, so if this pertains to you, avoid deep water.Large waves won’t affect your characteras long as you are on land or in a building.

There is no combat in the prologue, and it’s a pretty easygoing experience for a game in the survival genre, as long as you eat and use oxygen capsules to refill your oxygen bar. You have the option to craft better air tanks if you want, but the oxygen refill amounts do not change soyou’ll need more of them to fill up a larger air tank.

You can also build more base compartments as you explore or if you’re working on a bigger project that’s too far from your main base. It’ll help keep your oxygen bar filled while saving some resources that you might need for other things in the beginning stages of the prologue.

Dismantle extra base compartments when you’re done using them, or if you really need the resources back. Justmake sure you have room in your inventory to receive the materials.

Make The Most Of Your Storage

Storage chests come in many different sizes. When you place items, there is a grid system and containers such as lockers each take up one square, while the more advanced shelves take up two squares.

It’s easy to think the shelves are a better option, butyou’ll actually get more storage for your space by using two lockers. Two lockerswill take up two slots and provide 36 slotswhereas a shelf unitalso takes up two grid spaces but only provides 27 slots. If you’re trying to keep the amount of space your storage takes to a minimum, this is a good beginning option.

Adding one or moreT2 warehouses will increase the amount of your material stacks by an additional ten itemsfor each T2 warehouse you construct. Your stacks will no longer increaseonce you’ve reached stack sizes of 50.

Simplify The Crafting Experience

When crafting, you’ll need tomake sure you have the necessary materials on hand in your inventorybefore interacting with machines like the Workbench or the Assembling Bench.

The amount of slots you have available inyour personal inventory won’t changethroughout the duration of the Ocean World: Eden Crafters prologue. There will be options, as you progress further, to ensure that you have the ability to craft more resource-demanding recipes.

The two machines have the connector sides facing each other as much as possible to make installing a Conveyor easier.

If you prefer or need to manually craft items, you canshift-click in the crafting menu to craft in multiples of ten, up to 30 items. You can continue to add to the crafting queue as it crafts items. Crafting will stop after the crafting queue has been completed or until your resources run out.

When you’re manually crafting items, make sure the item is fully crafted before closing out of the crafting interface. If you close out right at the moment the crafting job is finishing, you may lose both the finished product, in addition to the resourcesused to craft the item.

There are two tiers of warehouses you’re able to build. These are obviously great for storage, but the real benefit is that crafting becomes a much smoother process. Warehouses allow you to see and use items stored in themright from the comfort of your Workbenchor Assembling Bench. There are, however, a few things you should know before you build warehouses.

The actualnumber of storage slots in the T1 Warehouse is relatively small. TheV2 Container has the same amount of storage slotsbut takes up considerably less room on the island than the T1 Warehouse.

Ocean World Eden Crafters recommended crafting in Tasks with late game Tasks covered by an orange chest image. The right side of the screen contains instructions to place a Plant Grower in the base. Additional instructions recommend finding a large Iron Deposit and placing a Miner near it. The last set of instructions recommends building an Assembling Bench to craft advanced parts, machines, and items. The world “completed” can be seen in large print beneath the recommendations.

You’ll need tobuild at least one T1 Warehouseto unlock the recipe for the T2 Warehouse. The T2 Warehouse is more expensive in terms of resources, but it provides the additional benefit of increasing the number of items in a stack by ten. Your basicstack size will go from 20 to 30.

Right-clicking on an item recipe you want to craft while you’re in one of the crafting menus or interfaceswill track the recipe so you may tell how close you are to being able to craft the item. When you have a warehouse, the items shown willalso include any items stored in your warehouses.

Don’t Waste Resources On Power

There’s no real need to make the best possible power options in Ocean World: Eden Crafters' prologue. In fact, you’re better off sticking to thebasic Wind Turbines. There are environmental factors whichfrequently destroy any power structuresyou place, regardless of where you place them.

You’ll be crafting tons of power supplies right up until the official end of the prologue. Once you get a steady stream of Refined Cobalt, you could easily switch to more advanced power options if you desire, but you’ll also be able to power everything with Wind Turbines as you progress.

If you encounter another island, you’ll need to put separate power sources on that islandnear any machines you install on it.

Don’t Hesitate To Use Automation Options

Many times, part of the charm of a crafting survival game is taking time to do manual crafting. For some people, it can be a peaceful, calm part of the game. For others, having to craft 100 items in a row may lead to rage-quitting.

This game isdesigned with automation as a core premise. You don’t need to feel like you’re cheating or taking the “easy” way by setting up automation.

Through most of the prologue, you’ll use a ton of Iron Plates and Iron Rods. Even if you like to do most of your crafting manually, you’ll need so many of these plates and rods thatautomation will end up saving you considerable timeand possibly some headaches if you at least automate the crafting of those two items.

Certain items such asRefined Cobalt and Refined Uranium will need to be processed in special machines. Since you’ll have to craft some of these machines to unlock additional recipes anyway, you might as well put them to good use.

When automating a two-step process such as turning iron into ingots, and then processing them again into Iron Plates, it’s a good idea toput a collection container before the processing machine. You want to be able to grab stacks of Iron Ingots if you need them, since there is no way to turn processed items back into their original components, or original form, once they have been processed.

As an example, you might have something like this:

This way,you can easily access both Iron Ingots and Iron Plateswhenever you need them.

Plan Your Automation And Building Placement

Automation and building are both fairly intuitive and easy in Eden Crafters. One of the issues you might run into, however,is the tangle of Conveyors and Water Pipesif you don’t put a little forethought into your setup.

The easiest way to build Conveyors and Water Pipes is to simplyclick on the first unit an item or water is coming from, and then click on the point where the item should arrive. A green representation of either a Conveyor or Water Pipe will follow your mouse cursor as you move to your destination.

Even if you take a very direct path, the Conveyor or Water Pipe may end up with a strange wide curve to it, andit won’t go around obstacles. You could end up with a Water Pipe running through your house.

Some machines willneed both Water Pipes, as well as Conveyors. This can get a little tangled if you plopped down some buildings super close together, or very far from each other, requiring you to cross multiple other Conveyors or Water Pipes.

If you don’t want a tangle of Water Pipes all over the place, the Water Pump, Ground Fertilizer, Tree Greenhouse, and Area Fertilizer all need to be near each other. you’re able to also manually install sections of Conveyor and Water Pipe if the easy mode is making too much of a mess.

You’ll have improved results when using Conveyors and Water Pipes if youturn the pieces that need to connect with the two connecting points facing each otherto minimize the curving when using the easy mode. You’ll be able to see a round Water Pipe connector, or the square-shaped Conveyor connector on the blueprints so you’re able to rotate a unit before placing it permanently.

If you need to edit Water Pipes or Conveyors, you can dismantle them, and you’ll obtain the materials you originally spentcrafting those items. If your inventory is full, however, you’ll lose all those resources.

Once items are on a Conveyor, you won’t be able to pick them up againunless they are delivered to a storage container or crafting machine.

At the very beginning of Ocean World: Eden Crafters, the prologue does a great job of letting you know what to build. Once you have your main items though, it gives you objectives under your “Tasks” menu instead.

As a general rule, try crafting any new recipe you get. It will help you progress, even if you run into a resource like sulfur that seems quite limited. Some resources won’t become more availableuntil after you’ve built certain itemsto allow access to a new area.

Mining from Large Ore Deposits appears to provide infinite resources, but ore deposits are not always conveniently located. You should be able tofind enough Large Ore Deposits near your spawn locationto serve your immediate needs. You’ll unlock a vehicle later, which will make collecting resources easier as you progress.

The basic building blocks allow you to really customize your island, butthey won’t unlock anything additional. They’re inexpensive to make though, and can add a personal touch to your island.

If you’re using the building blocks, you’re able to easily build walls, floors, and ceilings byplacing multiple blocks at a time. If you’re building across water, it’s best tobuild a long line, leave a gap, then build another line of blocks. There’s no way to ensure that you stay on the block while you’re building, so it’s easiest to build forward, leaving a jagged edge to make the next block placement easier.

Use the available crafting and building options to simplify processes. If you know you’ll need to constantly travel somewhere, you canbuild a road to make it easier, or set up an additional base or warehouse closer to resources.

Beware Potential Motion Sickness

Many games that offer a flying or driving experience can cause some people to have motion sickness. This game is no exception, andit currently doesn’t have a way to reduce this effectin the Settings.

When you’re able to fly your spacecraft, the slightest touch of the mouse can send your craft spinning. Turning sharply while your craft is moving forward can cause it to turn upside-down.

The camera doesn’t follow along very well, and requires you to hold the left-click while flying to be able to look around. By default, the controls are invertedto mimic a realistic aviation-style experience.

You canput a checkmark in the “Invert Y-Axis” optionunder the Controls section of the Settings menu if you want your ship to fly up if you move your mouse forward. The game appears to have controller support, so flying might work better with a controller.

There are options in the Controls menu toadjust the mouse and controller sensitivity, but one of the easiest ways to fly is to avoid the camera controls entirely and just use the movement buttons. If you avoid using the camera as much as possible, you may just manage to fly straight.

If motion sickness, or dealing with flight controls causes the experience to be overwhelming, you can actually choose tobuild a bridge from one island to the other. It will definitely take a substantial amount of time, but it could be a better way to avoid motion sickness. It would also allow you totake your Steam Rollervehicle over to the other island.

Make Plenty Of Batteries For Exploration

When you’re in the later stages of the Ocean World: Eden Crafters prologue, you’ll want to stock up on Sulfur and Refined Cobalt. You’ll need these for batteries, andyou don’t want to waste the Uranium ore you collect. It seems there are no large Uranium Ore Deposits available during the prologue.

RegularVehicle Energy Cells will be sufficientfor most of your exploration, but you’ll want a lot of them. Each vehiclecan hold three batteriesin dedicated power slots.

Vehicles also have their own storage compartments, so you can fill those with extra batteries to keep your inventory free, or to take even more batteries with you.

Batteries will give you an estimate of how long they will power your vehicle. One batterymay only give you a few minutes, between two and three minutes.

Dig In To Terraforming

Games with terraforming options can sometimes make the mechanic a bit arduous. Terraforming can be intimidating, especially if you’ve never really tried it before.

This game provides easy, intuitive ways to terraform. From the very beginning of the prologueyour basic hand tool allows you to harvest rockfrom the ground.

When harvesting the ground, you also end up shaping it. You cancreate your own tunnel systems, caves, or special rock formations. There’s more of a sculpting feel to the process even if the hand tool is a bit finicky. You’re only limited by your imagination.

Additionally, the vehicle you unlock should be something you build as soon as possibleif you’re serious about terraforming. It makes the process a breeze and can make traversing the islands so much easier, especially if you plan long-distance Conveyor or Water Pipe systems.

Keep vehicles well-stocked with batteries. Vehicles can behave weirdly if they run out of power, similar to losing power steering. They can end up traveling until they crash into something.

Ocean World: Eden Crafters provides a lot of freedom in how you can interact with the world. With so many plentiful resources, you’ll be able to build to your heart’s content evenafter you reach the “official” end of the prologue.
