Summary
It’s officially been a year sinceLarianhosted its final Panel from Hell prior toBaldur’s Gate 3’s launch, giving fans another look at the game ahead of it leaving early access. However, even if you didn’t tune in to the livestream at the time, I guarantee that there was one reveal that you saw no matter where you looked:thatbear scene.
Yes, it has been a full year since we discovered thatBaldur’s Gate 3 lets us screw a bear. Well, an elven druid taking a bear’s form, but a bear nonetheless. While this was simply part of a gameplay preview ahead of release, the scene very quickly took on a life of its own - so much so that the developers and actors involved are still asked about it.

Baldur’s Gate 3 Devs Mark One Year Since The Halsin Romance Scene Reveal
If you missed the Panel from Hell at the time, the context makes it even better. Basically, Larian previewed some romance scenes from the final build of Baldur’s Gate 3, since these were pretty basic in early access. The audience was able to choose the player’s responses, dictating what happened in these scenes.
So, that means that, yes, we only found out about the bear scene because that’s what the audience chose to do. They had the option of getting down and dirty with Halsin in his usual form, but of course, they wanted to get a little closer to nature.
The occasion has been marked by Halsin’s actor, Dave Jones, whose life was probably forever changed by the scene blowing up in the way it did.
I’ll always fondly remember the timeJones attended a fan Q&A in London shortly after the launchand was asked to perform one of his favourite lines from the game. Unsurprisingly, he went with one of Halsin’s lines from the bear scene (“You… likeit?"), and the crowd went wild.
So, happy first birthday, Halsin’s romance scene. You may not have ended up being the most outrageous romantic encounter in the game (that titlehas to go to the Emperor, surely) but your impact cannot be overstated, both on the game and our minds. Perhaps even on our morality.
