Summary

In just six short days,PlayStationgamers across the world will get a chance to playAstro Bot,Team Asobi’s third title in the Astro series, but the first fully-fledged platformer.

Ahead of Astro Bot’s worldwide launch, Team Asobi has shared numerous details about its PlayStation-centric platformer, including the kinds of cameos one can expect to find, as well asthe various preorder bonuses, including some nods to Bloodborne. Oh, and of course, the game’s trophy list, which has some serious sequel hints.

That said,in a recent PlayStation Blog post, Nicolas Doucet, Team Asobi’s studio head, revealed that the four special bots that are part ofAstro’s Playroom, the packed-in tech demo on thePS5, will transfer over to Astro Bot at launch.

Get Those Bots Before September 6!

As part of the blog, Doucet shared that “once rescued, you will be able to take these bots to the new game and add them to your starting crew.”

Those four bots are themed after Lady Maria fromBloodborne, Selene fromReturnal, one based onGran Turismoand a finalApe Escape-themed bot. Pretty dang neat, we’ll say.

But that’s not all, because, according to Doucet, ahead of Astro Bot’s launch, there will be some sort of event in Astro’s Playroom.

“And in the last few hours preceding the release of Astro Bot, we will hold a special celebration countdown inside Astro’s Playroom,” Doucet wrote. “Please come and check it out.” Nothing quite like a party before the real party.

A Behind The Scenes Series Will Detail The Journey

Elsewhere, Team Asobi will be releasing a series of Behind the Scenes videos detailing Astro Bot’s creation. The first episode is already out, and there will be five in total. Though dates for the remaining four videos have yet to be determined.

On its own, it’ll be pretty cool to see how the game to be, but of particular interest will be the third episode. Titled “PlayStation Fiesta,” the episode will share “how the PlayStation cameos came about, and the level of collaboration needed with other PlayStation Studios to bring this celebration to life.”

Perhaps we’ll see some cameos of other PlayStation luminaries make an appearance as they give their blessing to Team Asobi to utilize their characters. Either way, the hype for Astro Bot could not be more real.
