Summary

By now you’ve probably heard that Astro Bot was getting its own limited-edition DualSense controller for the PlayStation 5. It’s a cute controller, complete withAstro Bot’ssignature blue eyes and hue. Unfortunately, that controller is almost assuredly sold out at retailers.

And stop us if you’ve heard this before, but it’s now being scalped online. Of course, like with any cool limited-edition item, it was bound to happen. Just recently,we reported how Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero’s Collector’s Edition was already being flipped online for well over $400, andthe Astro Bot DualSense is no different.

Astro Bot DualSense Sold Listing

That’s just the way things often go when it comes to limited-edition accessories and collections. If you need any further proof, then we should refresh you on the Baldur’s Gate 3 Collector’s Edition going for over $1,000 at the lowest on eBay.

That said, the prices for the controller are truly exorbitant.

Does Anyone Have A Spare $150?

Take a gander at eBay, and theDualSensehas 337 current listings,of which the lowest buy-it-now price is $110. Elsewhere, bids are already over $80, with days still left to go.

Of course, those are just active listings, and in the case of the buy-it-now page, the seller can adjust the price based on the market. The real meat is in the sold listings, where there are Astro Bot controllers purchased for $150 just a day ago. One sold listing has a price of $164.99, which is more than double the cost of the controller at retail.

Indeed, when preorders launched for the controller, the retail MSRP was $79.99. That means, at the high end, consumers are paying twice as much for the product, and, at the low end, about $40-50 more. Like we said, the prices are exorbitant, and only stand to grow as the hype intensifies ahead of thegame’s scheduled September 6 launch date.

As of the time of writing, there is no word on whether additional preorders will be made available, or if retailers will potentially have stock at launch. Of course, the easy thing to do would be to make more of these controllers and stop scalpers in their tracks, but then it wouldn’t be so limited in the end. However, between the reality of scalpers having their way and a controller losing its limited-edition luster, the choice seems pretty easy.
