Summary

Astro Botis one of this year’s most highly-anticipated games, and its release is right round the corner. With only four days left, the wait is almost unbearable, but it seems as though quite a few people don’t have to wait as long as the rest of us.

That’s because it looks like certain retailers have broken the street date for Astro Bot and have been selling physical copies of the game early. On Sunday evening,a Twitter user called RandomMGSFanposted several pictures of the physical Astro Bot case, as well as its contents, which appears to include some bonus content for the game and a cute little comic sheet.

RandomMGSFan then follows up the images of Astro Bot’s physical copy with several gameplay clips that haven’t been included in promotional trailers, almost guaranteeing that this isn’t some elaborate hoax and Astro Bot’s street date has indeed been broken. In a separate tweet in the replies, RandomMGSFan explains that they purchased the copy from Walmart.

Astro Bot Is Being Streamed Four Days From Release

RandomMGSFan isn’t the only person to have obtained a copy of Astro Bot early either, as the game is also being streamed on Kick. A user calledKick_comILOVEKICKappears to have been streaming Astro Bot for the past couple of days, and Sony itself seems to be doing very little about these leaks, possibly because the game is so close to release, and it’s not really a game you may spoil.

Astro Bot is now the second big PlayStation game to have leaked early, withFinal Fantasy 7 Rebirth having found its way into the hands of fans days before release too. It won’t be the last game either, as keeping track of physical copies is probably a very difficult thing to do once they’re with retailers.

That might be one of the reasons so many publishers are desperate to usher in the digital era, including PlayStation, which seems to be gearing up to release a digital-only PS5 Pro.That’s according to a recent design leak, which claims the PS5 Pro won’t launch with a disc drive at launch. We’ll probably get a separate disc drive attachment sold separately like with the PS5 Slim, but it’s another sign that the digital future is closer than we’d like it to be.
