Summary
Ubisoftshared a clip of someAssassin’s Creed Shadowsparkour earlier this week, boasting about how, with a mix of the grappling hook and some sick flips, you can “Move swiftly across the rooftops”, but everyone is just making fun of how clunky it looks.
“This was painful to watch compared to the old AC games,” one fan retweeted. “you’re able to literally see the spots where one set of animation ends and the next begins…”

Sekirowas six years ago. How is this not on the level of that in terms of fluidity of movement?
“Is it normal that everytime the character flips… it’s like a hard reset where they ‘shove’ the character back in place?” another asked.

“Looks linear and clunky,” replied one Twitter user. “Trading flow for a bit of flare.”
Not Everyone Is Into All Of The Flipping
A big part of this footage isNaoe’sbrand-new parkour moves, namely her flips. After nearly every big jump, whether it’s up a ledge or from rooftop to rooftop, she does a flip. It’s a bit much.
“[Are] all the front flips really necessary?” one user put it plainly. Hey, Naoe likes a challenge, and nothing’s more challenging than starting a fight dizzy from ten backflips.

How does a game from 2014 have better animations than this?
“So many unecessary flip’s dude,” another comment reads, once again putting it plainly.

Others are hung up on the claim that she’s moving “swiftly” in the footage, saying that the parkour—especially the flips—look like they’re in slow motion. “It’s a little inconsistent flow and speed wise,” wrote one fan.. “You go from running [at] normal speed to doing a slow floaty flip or some slow small drop down. It’s jarring.”
Some even liken it to the speed ofValhalla’sparkour, which was a bit clunkier given that you play as a Viking. Of course,Shadows still has some time before it launches, so this isn’t the final product, and who knows? Maybe it’ll feel better in motion than it looks.
