Summary
Everyone playsFinal Fantasy 14a little differently when a new expansion rolls around. You can skip through the MSQ to get to that post-expansion grind, take your time with the story and drink in the sights of new locations, or complete absolutely everything that Dawntrail throws at you before moving onto the next big story scene. Unfortunately, the completionists out there may want to be wary about completing too many side quests.
First spotted by Reddit user St_Wolfgang and shared with the Final Fantasy 14 subreddit, it appears as though a side quest is unlocking a tad bit too early in the main story. That wouldn’t be too much of an issue in most cases, as side quests are rarely attached to events that occur in the MSQ, but this one just so happens to talk about a pretty big story event a single main quest before it actually occurs.

The side quest in question isunlocked at level 95 and is called ‘Once A Riddler, Now A Ruler’. We won’t go into spoilers here, but it talks about the outcome of the rite of succession in rather explicit detail before it takes place. Either this side quest giver is a person with a suspicious amount of inside knowledge of the Tulliyolal political system, or this is simply a bug that is forcing the quest to become available too soon.
A Final Fantasy 14 Dawntrail Side Quest Is Spoiling The Main Story
It’s a little bit of a worry knowing that there might be spoilers around the corner, but it’s rather easy to avoid. Simply don’t accept any side quests in Tulliyolal until the rite of succession arc is over, and you’ll be fine. There’s also a chance that Square Enix will fix this in the coming days, given it’s a massive spoiler, as fans will recall something similar happened witha main quest title that was given to players after a certain eventin the MSQ way back in Patch 3.5.
If you want to avoid spoilers completely, you can avoid side quests, ensure you have player titles turned off,and remove minion names. That way, you should be able to experience everything Dawntrail has to offer without fear of accidentally stumbling into a spoiler. You still can’t control what people post on Twitter though, so stay cautious.
