Video game boss fights are the ultimate test of a gamer’s skills. These fights require the culmination of all of your skills, techniques, weapons, and experiences accumulated throughout your game play. But one skill that you usually don’t expect to utilize is your cross-country running skills.
Some bosses have decided that the best course of action when encountering a stalwart hero is to turn tail and run. Maybe hoping you’ll get tired of chasing them and just go away. So, tighten up your running shoes and grab your water bottle, adventurers. You’re going to need them.

9Royal Tofu
Dofus and Dofus Touch
Your journey to collect primordial dragon eggs, called Dofus, takes you into all manner of dungeons scattered across Amakna. One particularly memorable dungeon is the Royal Tofu House in the Ingalsses' Fields. There, you make your way through six, increasingly difficult rooms until you encounter the boss: Royal Tofu.
Royal Tofu, an adorable, pudgy yellow bird, leverages guerrilla warfare. He’ll rush forward, attack, and then retreat to safety. The trick is to manipulate Royal Tofu’s movement mechanics to trap him in a corner so you may finally defeat him.

8Master Kohga
Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
After Linkdefeats Master Kohga in Breath of the Wild, the Yiga Clan leader journeys through The Depths, studying ancient technology in hopes of creating a weapon capable of defeating Link and Zelda to gain favor with Ganon and bring the current world to an end.
It turns out that Master Kohga found a lot of material to experiment with to create his weapon. He fights Link four different times in Tears of the Kingdom. Each time, he attacks Link with his contraptions, such as a buggy outfitted with blades and spikes and a modified raft. While Kohga can be a challenge, it’s nothing Link can’t handle. After each defeat, Kohga makes a hasty getaway, ready to create his next plan of action to exact his revenge.

7Croco
Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars and Super Mario RPG
Mario’s quest to defeat the Smithy Gang is full of colorful characters and tricky challenges. Croco, a purple crocodile thief with a red top hat, has very sticky fingers. Every time Mario encounters Croco, it’s Mario’s job to retrieve stolen items. Croco’s modus operandi? Run away!
The chase is on, with Mario weaving through dense foliage and twisting paths. Croco taunts Mario each time he gets close, goading him to keep up the pursuit. The key to catching Croco is to corner him at a dead end. As a last-ditch effort, he will hide himself in the jungle, and you need to find him three times.

But Croco isn’t ready to admit defeat that easily. You’ll need to beat him in battle before you can finally get the stolen goods. One battle later, Croco relinquishes the items and disappears to cause havoc another day.
6Glintstone Dragon Adula
Elden Ring
Elden Ring is rife with legendary boss fights that challenge even the most seasoned Tarnished. Among these difficult encounters is the Glintstone Dragon Adula.While exploring the Three Sisters region, you will eventually make your way to Ranni’s Rise, where you’ll encounter Adula.
When you first fight Adula, the battle is intense but cut short - she disappears after you reduce her HP to 50 percent. You later find Adula again at the Moonlight Altar, just outside the Cathedral of Manus Celes. This second encounter is your chance tofinally defeat the dragon. Upon her defeat, you are rewarded with Adula’s Moonblade, a potent spell that conjures a cold magic greatsword, offering a powerful new tool for your arsenal.
5Gold Goblins

In between trying to solve the mysteries of The World, Haseo can take a break and enjoy a variety of side-quests, such as the Goblin Challenges. The Gold Goblins stole Kafu’s bike, and it’s up to you to chase after them and retrieve it. However, the Gold Goblins aren’t keen on giving up their prize, so they set a challenge: if you’re able to catch all of them within a set time, they’ll return the bike.
Seems easy, right? But the Gold Goblins are the ultimate, invincible, strongest speed demons. To clear all the levels, you’ll need to master your Steam Bike skills and stay sharp throughout the chase. The Goblin Challenges push your driving skills to the limit, demanding precision, speed, and strategy. Are you up for the challenge, gob?
4Serpent Reaver Captain Madison

The Calamity had a devastating impact on all of Eorzia, including races like the Sahagin. After their spawning grounds were destroyed, the Sahagin began aggressively claiming new land for their own. They sent the Serpent Reavers, led by Captain Madison, to overtake the Sastasha caverns.
It’s now your job to clear the caves. You encounter Captain Madison several times but, after a short battle each time, he flees deeper into the caves until he is finally stopped by Denn the Orcatoothed, Sastasha’s final boss, who was less than impressed with Madison’s performance.
After Madison’s defeat, he and his crew were punished by the Leviathan, who turned them into cephalopod-human hybrids. They were sent back to Sastasha to finish the job, this time with a kraken in tow. But, when you inevitably turn back up at Sastasha, Madison sicks the kraken on you before hightailing it, again. But the kraken isn’t about to put up with Madison’s nonsense and it back-tentacles him into the sea.
3Evil Emperor Zurg
Disneyland Adventures
Disneyland Adventures isone of the most faithful recreations of Disneylandavailable in video game format. Based on Disneyland from 2011, the virtual park is missing some modern updates, such as Galaxy’s Edge, but still faithfully recreates hidden Mickeys, ambiance, and facades. The only details that are missing are the long wait times and the smell of popcorn.
Most of the rides have been transformed into mini-games, such as Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters. It’s your job as a Star Command Cadet to hunt down the Evil Emperor Zurg. After challenging Zurg on his space station, he escapes into a nearby asteroid field. You have to weave through the asteroids while avoiding attacks before you may bring an end to Zurg’s evil schemes.
2Micolash
Bloodborne
Bloodborne takes place in the eerie Gothic world of Yharnam, where nightmarish beasts and cosmic entities lurk. The bosses you face are challenging, forcing you to utilize all of your gaming skills and experiences. One such boss, Micolash, tests your patience and tenacity as well as your fine-tuned battle skills.
Micolash, the Host of the Nightmare, was once a student of Byrgenwerth. He sacrificed his physical body to transfer his consciousness into the Nightmare of Mensis. This ancient, foggy castle has a sense of foreboding as you step inside.Micolash is ready for you, complete with a snazzy monologue. And then he runs away, forcing you to chase him through the halls of his castle in a perverse game of tag. After you finally manage to corner him in a room, the actual battle can begin. Well, it can until he decides to run again, starting the chase-fight sequence all over again. Don’t forget to stretch before starting his encounter.
1The Three Legendary Beasts: Entei, Suicune, and Raikou

According to Johto legend, threePokemononce lived in the Brass Tower in Ecruteak City. One day, a massive lightning bolt hit the tower, sparking a huge fire that engulfed the tower. The fire raged on until a sudden deluge doused the flames. But it was too late; the three Pokemon perished in the blaze. But then, as the sun rose above the horizon,Ho-Oh appeared over the tower. The legendary bird gave new life to the three Pokemon, transforming them into the Three Legendary Beasts: Entei, Suicune, and Raikou.
After you encounter one of the Legendary Beasts in the wild for the first time, you can use their Pokedex entry to see their current location on the Town Map.
While on your Pokemon journey, you can explore the Burned Tower. At the very bottom of the tower’s remains stand hibernating Pokemon. Your activities awaken the Three Beasts, who quickly flee from the City. You must now chase Entei, Suicune, and Raikou all across Johto. When you encounter one in the wild, you have one turn before it uses Roar to flee, and the chase begins anew.
